Monster Hunter Rise: How to Get More Buddies

Monster Hunter Rise is the latest entry in Capcom’s popular monster-hunting action series, and it brings back the beloved cat companions you can take with you into battle. The game also introduces Palamutes, dog-like creatures that will help you get around faster. You can only create one Palico and one Palamute at the start, but it’s possible to get more. Here’s how to get more Buddies in Monster Hunter Rise.

As mentioned earlier, at the start of the game, you can create your own Palico and Palamute. These will be your main Buddies, and you can only take them with you during multiplayer hunts. However, you can actually switch them out during solo hunts, whether it’s a Village or Hub quest.

Getting More Buddies in Monster Hunter Rise

To do this, you need to access the Buddy Plaza, which is unlocked after you’ve completed your first handful of Village quests. The Plaza can be found past the smithy and the merchant in the Steelworks area.

Head over, and find the Buddy Scout to the right side of the entrance. From here, you can set your preferences for both Palicos and Palamutes, from their support type to fur design, and then have the Scout look for potential recruits.

Depending on the Buddy level, it’ll cost you varying amounts of zenny to actually hire them. Simply choose the Hire option when talking to the Scout, and pick the one you want to hire.

Now, you can switch out your Buddies at any time by interacting with a Buddy Post, which can be found all over the hub.

You can also send out your extra Buddies on expeditions for the Meowcenaries or the Argosy, or send them to the Dojo in the Buddy Plaza so they can level up faster even if you’re not taking them out on hunts with you.

That’s all you need to know about how to get more Buddies in Monster Hunter Rise. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
