Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the latest entry in Ubisoft’s popular open-world historical fiction series. This time around, players will get to take control of a viking named Eivor as they explore England in search of treasure and new lands to claim as territory for their clan. Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

The upgrading system in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla definitely feels a lot more streamlined and convenient than in previous games. While you do still need to go to the blacksmith every now and again, most of the equipment upgrades can be done straight from your inventory menu.

Bring up your menu with the touchpad on PS4 or the Menu button on Xbox One, then go to the Inventory tab. From here, hover over the piece of gear your want to enhance, then tap the square button (or X if you’re on Xbox One) to see how many upgrade tiers are available, and if you actually have enough of the required materials to enhance them.

Once you’ve confirmed that you have enough materials and you’re sure you want to improve that piece of gear, press and hold the square/X button to finish the process. For armor, you’ll usually need materials like leather, which can be obtained from hunting animals. For weapons, you’ll usually need iron ore and other metals, which can be obtained by smashing ore deposits and outcrops you find in the open-world.

After you’ve upgraded all available tiers on a piece of gear, you’ll eventually have to head back to the blacksmith to see if there’s any way to enhance it even further and unlock more tiers. Doing so will require you to hand over an ingot (the type of ingot required will increase in rarity the more powerful your gear gets), and this will allow you to improve it even further with better materials.

Aside from just pouring skill points into the skill tree to increase your power level, it’s definitely important to look at your equipment every now and then as well to make sure that you’re keeping up with the challenges that the game is throwing at you.
