Today, while revealing new gameplay for the JRPG Granblue Fantasy Relink, Cygames showcased the controls for four characters.

The gameplay was showcased during livestream from Granblue Fantasy Fes being held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, near Tokyo. You can see the original live play from the show and a high-quality version provided by Cygames played in a slightly different way.

An interesting element is that Producer Tetsuya Fukuhara showcased the controls for the skills of the four characters showcased, Lancelot, Percival, Vane, and Siegfried.

Of course, this was done in Japanese, so I thought I’d translate the slides for your perusal.

You’ll find familiar skills from various versions of our heroes in the mobile game, and new ones. As a funny note of color, Lancelot’s “Blau Dolch” (which means simply Blue Dagger in German) has the same name as the iconic weapon which was localized in English as “Hornet Needle” in Final Fantasy XI, and was indeed a blue dagger.

Do keep in mind that final localization may vary and that circle and X buttons are likely to be inverted when the game finally makes it to the west. The gameplay footage also showcased that the R2 button is used for dodging.

Granblue Fantasy Relink has been announced only for PS4, and today we heard that Cygames plans to reveal the release date only when we’re very close to launch.

If you want to learn more, you can also read our interview with director Tetsuya Fukuhara, who revealed  quite a few interesting details a while ago.

Incidentally, the original Granblue Fantasy mobile game is available for iOS, Android, and PC via browsers. If you want to give it a try to prepare for the release of the console games, you can read my detailed guide on how to create an account, install the game, and play in English.

Yesterday we also saw the first look at the villains and DLC coming for the other Granblue Fantasy console game for PS4, Granblue Fantasy Versus.
