8-Minute Elder Scrolls Online Cinematic Released

This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information

Today, Bethesda released a whopping 8-minute sneak peek of their upcoming MMORPG, The Elder Scrolls Online. Titled “The Arrival,” it depicts the coming of Molag Bal, one of the more blatantly evil Daedric princes, who serves as the story’s primary antagonist. I know it’s not how the actual gameplay is gonna look, but man, is this pretty.

The cinematic begins with what I believe are the leaders of the game’s three factions: a brawny Nord, a red-haired High Elf, and a hooded Breton. They represent the Ebonheart Pact, the Aldmeri Dominion, and the Daggerfall Covenant respectively.

Fighting amongst themselves, no doubt for control of the Ruby Throne, and thus the Empire, their civil war is interrupted when an oblivion gate opens up above them, sending down all manner of Daedra (namely scamps and heavily armored Dremora). Eventually Molag Bal himself, I think, is revealed.

Since I don’t want to spoil the ending of the sneak peek, I’ll leave it at that. But I definitely urge you to check it out!
