Play True Vault Hunter Mode
After beating Borderlands 3, you’ll gain the option to start True Vault Hunter mode, Borderlands 3’s take on new game plus mode.
While playing this mode, you’ll be able to play through the game again while taking on stronger enemies in line with your current level. This will allow you to play through each of the game’s main missions and story beats all over again, all while advancing further through your character’s skill trees.
This is ideal if you enjoyed having some structure to how you play, and would rather see some of the game’s characters interacting with you and the world again.
Likewise, it can be useful if there were parts of the main story you didn’t catch every element of, and want to see again to make sure you caught everything.
Play Mayhem Mode
On the other hand, if you’re satisfied with leaving the main missions behind and would rather work on obtaining more loot from challenging enemies, you can activate Borderlands 3’s Mayhem Mode which is going to be a popular thing hardcore fans will definitely jump into after beating Borderlands 3.
Obtained by placing the final Vault artifact in the pedestal above, Mayhem Mode increases the Health, Shields and Armor of every enemy across every area, making them several times harder to kill. In exchange, however, they’ll drop more cash and Eridium as well as better loot for you to equip.
The mode likewise comes in three different tiers. Tier One is the easiest and offers a decent challenge and loot increase; Tier Two makes a sizable increase in enemy difficulty and loot drops; and Tier Three brings players an exceptionally higher level of challenge and loot drops.
It’s a great way to keep the game interesting as you’re cleaning up any loose ends you left around the galaxy, and can leave you decked out in gear you only dreamed of ever having.
Complete Every Side Mission and Crew Challenge
Like past games in the series, Borderlands 3 is chock full of side missions to complete, and most all of them are well worth your time to complete either during the campaign or if you’re looking for something to do after beating Borderlands 3.
There are standouts like the Life of the Party mission, which sees you assist Mordecai in making a young girl’s birthday the best it can be; Tongue in Cheek ones like Sell Out, which sees you receive a tempting offer from the game’s villain; and challenging combat gauntlets like those offered by the Slaughter tournaments in a few select areas.
Each has their own separate sub-plots that help flesh out the world and its characters, and taking the time to do them can greatly expand your understanding of the game’s story as a result.
Likewise, there are a slew of Crew Challenges across every world. Though less detailed and demanding than side missions, some will require you to solve environmental puzzles to reach them and can offer valuable lore about the series’ characters and world.
And of course, being that they’re in a Borderlands game, most every side quest and Crew Challenge will reward you with cash, loot and experience upon completion.
Take on the Proving Grounds
A new addition to the Borderlands series, Borderlands 3’s Proving Grounds are a great way to challenge yourself after depleting all of the game’s base content.
Acting as an infinitely replayable horde and dungeon mode, the Proving Grounds provide you with an area full of enemies you’ll need to overcome. You can take the area on solo, or team up with friends and other players to increase your chances of success.
Though difficult, successfully overcoming this mode will grant you an exceptional amount of valuable loot which you can carry over to the base game.
Plus, as an added bonus of playing it post-completing Borderlands 3, you’ll be able to select which area you want to take on by tracking down their correlating beacon out in the game world.
Find Every Easter Egg
While they may not be as easy to find as other side content on this list, Borderlands 3’s easter eggs are well worth the hassle if you need some post-game activities.
Ranging from references to past entries in the series to pop-culture references in the forms of enemies like Wick and Worty, Borderlands 3’s easter eggs are varied and plentiful enough to keep you hunting and laughing for hours.
Some are small, like an audio log from a past character explaining where they are and what happened to them. Others are sizable, with entire mini-boss fights taking place after you stumble into an enemy’s territory.
They’re all good fun and lend some variety to the usual array of content you’ll have seen from the game. Plus, if you defeat the referential enemy or collect all of the audio logs tied to a character, you’ll be rewarded with some rare loot for your trouble.

Complete Every Circle of Slaughter

Acting as Borderlands 3’s take on a pure horde mode, the Circles of Slaughter see you take on waves of enemies in special events organized by the founder of the Torgue weapon company. There are three in all to take on, each with their own enemy types and hazards to avoid.
Likewise, each new round sees harder and harder waves of enemies swarm you in rapid succession, all while your ammo dwindles and your action skills become less and less viable.
It’s a great way to test your skills both on your own and with a party of friends, especially since enemies will level with you to ensure the Circles always provide foes that’ll push you to your limit.
Collect Every Borderlands 3 Trophy/ Achievement
Though it may seem intimidating at first, collecting every trophy and achievement in Borderlands 3 can be a blast once you get into it.
Ranging from taking part in all of the title’s mini games to finding interesting ways to make a fool of yourself, the game’s trophies and achievements are far more varied than ticking off a checklist.
Not only that, but they often encourage experimentation. Getting a perfect score at the shooting range or killing multiple enemies with a sticky grenade may seem like a simple task at first, but after a few failures, you and your friends will be amazed at some of the different methods you come up with to complete the challenge and bring yourselves one tick closer to a 100 percent completion score.
Farm Bosses for Every Legendary Weapon
If you wish you could go back and fight some of the game’s bosses for better loot, you’re in luck.
From the introductory boss fight with Mouthpiece to the final confrontation with Tyreen, every boss in Borderlands 3 can be taken on once again by returning to their boss arena.
Better yet, they can be taken on again and again, allowing you to learn all of their patterns and become a master at dismantling them.
And that’s to say nothing of the loot you can obtain from them. Each boss has a specific legendary weapon they drop, from rocket-launching pistols to sniper rifles with split shot capabilities.
By taking on each boss over again, you can farm up and collect one of every legendary weapon in the game, fleshing out your arsenal and further cementing your status as the biggest badass in the universe.
Document Your Adventures With Borderlands 3’s Photo Mode
If the death and mayhem of the game has started to wear on you, there’s always the option to step back and enjoying the beauty of your adventures through Borderlands 3’s photo mode.
Much like with any other game, the photo mode allows you to capture the beauty of a moment by freezing the action and letting you line up a shot.
This means you could pause the game mid-fight to capture the joy on you and your friends’ faces as you rain destruction on your enemies; or, you could capture the quieter moments of your travels, like the sun setting over the sandy deserts of Pandora.
It’s oddly cathartic after surviving the chaos of the game’s story, and more often than not, it’ll give you and your buddies a way to cherish the time you spent together.
Test Out Every Vault Hunter
It almost goes without saying at this point, but if you want to keep the fun of Borderlands 3 going, there’s no better way than to start over with a new Vault Hunter.
While each may rely on firearms to survive the insanity of the series’ worlds, there are canyons worth of differences in how each class plays thanks to their abilities and skills.
Whereas the Siren Amara can thrash and smash enemies with boosted melee attacks, FL4K can pick off enemies from a distance while they’re distracted by his animal companions.
For every enemy you can tank and mow down using Moze’s armored mech, there are just as many you can manipulate and deceive with Zane’s Operative abilities and gadgets.
This can lead to vastly different playthroughs of the game, especially when you team up with other players who’re testing out new Vault Hunters themselves. Plus, as an added bonus, you’ll see the world from a whole new perspective, making the game feel new and exciting all over again.
