3 Best Upcoming Switch Games for August 2019

The month of August is nearly upon us which means that there are a bunch of Switch games being added to the eShop.

We’re getting a port of one of the best RPG’s of all time, a new action game from PlatinumGames, and a charming JRPG from Tokyo RPG Factory and Square Enix.

Here are the three best upcoming Switch games for August 2019.

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition – Aug 8

The brilliant minds over at Obsidian are bringing over their award-winning RPG, Pillars of Eternity, to the Nintendo Switch in just a few weeks.

The tactical, top-down role-playing experience is perfect for playing on the go and you will be engrossed thanks to the riveting narrative and addicting gameplay loop.

This complete edition of the cherished RPG comes packed with all of the previously released downloadable content for you to sink your teeth into.

Moreover, if you’re looking to take it to the next level, make sure to play Pillars of Eternity 2 when it eventually comes to the Switch later this year.

Oninaki – Aug 22

Oninaki is the next charming JRPG that comes from the folks over at Tokyo RPG Factory. For the past few years, they’ve been creating lower budget role-playing games every year or so with Square Enix publishing them.

If you’ve heard of I Am Setsuna or Lost Sphear, then you might know what to expect with Oninaki.

But instead of being turn-based, Oninaki is way more action-oriented, allowing players to move around the battlefield at will and use attacks on enemies whenever they want to.

The studio’s titles definitely pay homage to classic JRPG’s of the past such as Chrono Trigger and old-school Final Fantasy, so if you’re a fan of those, then Oninaki might be right up your alley.

Astral Chain – Aug 30

Astral Chain is a brand-new action title that comes from the minds of Bayonetta and NieR: Automata so you can expect that familiar, crazy fast-paced combat that these developers are known for.

Astral Chain places you in the shoes of a rookie on a police task force who’s investigating a strange group that’s come to wreak havoc.

What makes Astral Chain so stylish and unique is its synergetic battle system that has you controlling two characters at the same time to deliver cooperative attacks and moves.

The neon colors, the futuristic and post-apocalyptic setting, and the character designs all come together to make this game one of the most anticipated for the month of August –heck, even for 2019 in general.
