How to Steal Characters in Total War Three Kingdoms

Steal From the Inside

Arguably the most ingenious way to steal characters in the game is to infiltrate a rival faction from the inside. You can send spies to occupy court positions so that they can weaken the position of an individual character you want to steal, or the entire faction.

If you get the spy work against what a certain character wants, they might become unhappy with their position there and look to leave. You can then recall your spy and pounce to recruit the general for your own faction.

Alternatively, if you weaken the entire faction enough, you might be able to absorb all their characters, stealing the one you want in the process.

Getting Characters From Battle

You may also get the chance to steal characters following battles in Total War Three Kingdoms. After succeeding in a battle, a little window should appear that gives you a few options.

You will be able to release them in shame, kill them to weaken the rival faction or ask them to join your side. Them accepting your proposal is down to how happy they are with their own faction.

If they are content where they are, even after being defeated, they might not join your faction. However, there’s always a chance of them joining you, and you can pick a time at which your invite is more likely to be accepted.

Absorbing Factions to Steal Characters

Finally, you can absorb whole factions, or at least what it left of them. After you destroy a faction, either in battle or more by subtle means, you’ll get the chance to take all of their assets and land, the characters still alive coming across too.

You’ll have to try and keep them happy by offering them things like court positions or other bonuses since they’ve not exactly joined voluntarily.
