Here’s What We Know About Co-Op Multiplayer in Super Mario Maker 2

Super Mario Maker 2 will soon be released onto the Nintendo Switch and it comes loaded with a ton of new features and building elements. If you’re wondering if there is multiplayer functionality (like maybe co-op) in Super Mario Maker 2, then here’s everything that you need to know.

During the Nintendo Direct presentation on May 15 for Super Mario Maker 2, Nintendo showed off all of the online components that will be featured in the Switch game.

Before this presentation, Nintendo was keeping quiet on the multiplayer functionality, but now we know pretty much everything that there is to know.

For starters, you will be able to play any course online with up to four other players, but you must be a Switch Online subscriber. The multiplayer versus mode has you facing off against the other players to see who can get to the end of the stage or complete the requirements the fastest.

By winning (or losing) these matches, your win-loss ratio will go up or down, depending on the result.

And the multiplayer competitive mode is a bit more friendly in that you and three other players are playing together to finish a course. Regardless of who gets to the end goal first, everybody wins no matter what.

Another new feature is the ability to create stages with another player, locally. By using a second Joy-Con, you and a friend can collaborate on creating some awesome 2D Mario courses.

That is everything you need to know about co-op multiplayer in Super Mario Maker 2. Hopefully, this guide answered your questions.
