Is The Division 2 Open World? Here’s What You Need to Know
Ubisoft’s next AAA experience is right around the corner and you might be wondering what kind of experience you’re in for with The Division 2. Is it open world? We’ve got that question answered.
In the first The Division, New York City was one of the highlights of the game as was the ability to explore countless nooks and crannies within it. So when The Division 2 was announced last year with the U.S. capital, Washington D.C., as the setting, everyone familiar with the title knew that this would be the next playground they’d get to explore as Division agents.
Like New York City, D.C. is massive, sprawling and filled with monuments and iconic locations, and Ubisoft recognized this. That’s why we’re happy to report that when you jump into The Division 2 soon, you’ll be jumping into an open world game.
We don’t have an exact read on just how massive this open world Washington D.C. will be, but considering The Division 2 is a sequel to an already extensive open world game, we can’t imagine this title doing anything other than upping the ante.
Just like New York City, D.C. will contain different sectors for players to explore. In New York City, agents could explore Manhattan, Brooklyn and more, and we imagine that in D.C., agents will be able to explore places like Capitol Hill, Brookland, Columbia Heights and more.
That does it for whether The Division 2 is open world. Thankfully, there’s not long to wait for the game to launch; the gold edition of The Division 2 gives players access to the game starting today. Everyone else will be able to jump in Friday, March 15.
