How to Pistol Takedown in Far Cry New Dawn
While the vast array of eccentric and bad-ass looking weaponry in Far Cry New Dawn will likely be your go-to for taking down the Highwaymen, other times you may want to get more up-close and personal. For those times, you’ll want to know how to pistol takedown in Far Cry New Dawn, so you can dispatch enemies as quickly as possible.
How to Takedown
Before you can Pistol Takedown, you’ll first need to get yourself some perk points. Initially, you’ll only be able to takedown and stealth takedown enemies in Far Cry New Dawn.
To do this, simply get close to an enemy and press the R3 button. You don’t have to be in cover in order to just simply finish an enemy with your knife. However, if you want to remain undetected, you’re best crouching up behind them and waiting for the on-screen prompt to perform a stealth takedown.
Unlocking the Pistol Takedown in Far Cry New Dawn
The ability to Pistol Takedown in Far Cry New Dawn is actually a perk you’ll need to unlock with perk points. There are three different takedown-related perks in the game, with Pistol Takedowns being the second. We’ve detailed all of them below.

| Master Takedown | Â 10 | Can now takedown Elite enemies in Far Cry New Dawn. You can also use the left analog stick during the takedown animation to leap to, and finish off an adjacent enemy. |
These perks specifically must be unlocked in the order shown in the table above. Therefore, in order to unlock Pistol Takedowns in Far Cry New Dawn, you’ll need 15 Perk Points and to unlock the Advanced perk first.
To unlock these perks, press the touchpad on PS4 or View button on Xbox One, and use the L1 and R1/LB and RB buttons to navigate to the Perks tab. From here, head down to the fourth row and you’ll find all three of them in a chain.
How to Pistol Takedown
Now that you’ve unlocked the required perk, performing a pistol takedown in Far Cry New Dawn is simple. All you need to do is get up close to an enemy and press R3 to perform a normal takedown.
During the animation, though, hold L2/LT and press R2/RT to perform a pistol takedown and finish off another nearby enemy or two.
