How to Use Air Sensors & What They Do in Fallout 76
The world of Fallout 76 features plenty of interesting interactables that fans are still trying to find a use for in-game. The air sensors are one such example.
Throughout the beta, many questioned what exactly the purpose of these devices was, as the only prompt it would give stated it was busy gathering data. The full release of the game has answered that question, and many more.
Here is everything you need to know about how to use air sensors and what they do in Fallout 76.
What Air Sensors Do
It turns out that air sensors don’t do anything remarkable on their own, but are instead part of a daily quest. These missions are ones that players can find spread throughout the wasteland, with the added incentive of making them available to repeat every 24 hours.
To be able to successfully use air sensors, the daily mission you’ll have to trigger is known as “Ecological Balance.” This specific daily mission can be found at the Tygart water treatment plant, located in the middle of the map, near Summersville.
Once you are in the area, look for the silverish blue trailer belonging to Amy Kerry. Right next to her terminal, a holotape called Message for Jeff can be found.
Ecological Balance
When Message for Jeff is triggered, it will start the daily quest “Ecological Balance.” In order to access the air sensors, you’ll need to follow the quest line.
After you’ve found Kerry’s body and unlocked her terminal, Fallout 76 tasks you with assess the environmental monitoring program. The gist of this is that you must collect water, soil, and air data from holotapes to complete the quest.
Collecting the air data is one of the last steps in the mission. It is at this point that you’ll finally interact with the air sensor, gathering the data that it has been collecting all of this time.
