How to Change Weapons in Hitman 2
After IO Interactive struck gold with their Hitman episodic series, the franchise is back with a direct follow-up, Hitman 2. The story is a direct continuation from the first game, and the new levels are bigger and better before, providing you with tons of options when it comes to planning an assassination, including the types of weapons you can use. That said, here’s what you need to know about how to change weapons on the fly in Hitman 2.
Unlike most third-person action games, Hitman 2 falls a little bit on the clunky side when it comes to your ability to quickly swap out and change weapons. In order to change weapons in this game, you’ll need to tap the left or right buttons on the d-pad to bring up your inventory. After that, use those buttons to scroll through all your items, then equip your desired weapon by tapping the X button, or the A button if you’re on Xbox One.
This sounds simple in theory, but in the game itself, it’s a bit of a hassle, as your weapons and all other items are grouped into one menu. This means that you’ll probably need to scroll through a number of things before you reach your desired weapon, especially if you’re already carrying a whole bunch of stuff.
Thankfully, though, the game does pause whenever you bring up your inventory, so you don’t have to worry about getting spotted or shot at while you’re looking through your stuff in Hitman 2.
Selecting Your Loadout in Hitman 2
You can also change weapons at the start of each mission in Hitman 2. Right after the briefing, before you actually begin the mission, choose the Planning option to customize your loadout. You’ll be able to select your primary weapon from here.
The game usually equips you with the ICA silenced pistol by default, which should work well for stealthy encounters.
Putting Away Your Weapons
We definitely recommend that you take caution whenever you plan on using weapons in Hitman 2. If the NPCs see you carrying a gun around, they will become immediately wary of you and they might raise the alarm, causing your target to get alerted and run away. To put your gun or weapon away, just tap up on the d-pad to holster it.
On the other hand, if you’re only going to be using melee weapons or throwables, such as a wrench or other ‘normal’ items like drills and pipes, the NPCs in Hitman 2 will usually let that slide. These can also be concealed easily by hitting up on the d-pad.
Lastly, it’s also important to note that the heavier or bulkier items in Hitman 2 cannot be concealed or put away. For instance, if Agent 47 is carrying a large bomb or car battery, bringing up the inventory menu and equipping something else will cause him to drop whatever he was carrying at first.
And that’s all you need to know about how to change weapons in Hitman 2. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
