How to Play Blackjack in Red Dead Redemption 2 & How to Win
There are a number of little minigames you can partake in to pass the time in Red Dead Redemption 2. Five finger fillet, poker, and even dominoes can all be accessed fairly early on in your adventure. However, in order to play the fourth and final one, Blackjack, you’ll need to venture a little further from Horseshoe Overlook. Here’s where to play Blackjack in Red Dead Redemption 2 and how to win.
Where You Can Play Blackjack
Blackjack can be played in a couple of places, but you’ll only be able to play it consistently in the town of Rhodes. Specifically, you’re looking for a little card icon on your map within the Saloon itself in the south of the town.
Not the poker chip icon or anything, just a playing card. We’ve included a screenshot of it down below to help you identify where you need to go. It’s worth noting that the icon may not pop up on your map until you head inside Rhodes’ saloon, so be sure to use our screenshot below to track it down.
From the screenshot, you can see that we found it around the south part of town. Head on into the building, and go interact with the NPC sat at the table by pressing Triangle or Y to begin playing.
Remember, you’ll be wagering some money when you do this in Red Dead Redemption 2, so be sure you’re happy to take a loss if lady luck isn’t smiling down on you.
It’s also possible that you can play blackjack at the table in your camp from time to time. However, the game on offer here changes between this and the other games on offer, so if you’re hankering for a game of Blackjack in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’re best off heading to the saloon in Rhodes.
How to Win Blackjack
The aim of the game is to try and have your cards add up to 21, with a Jack, Queen, or King counting as 10, and an Ace being either a 1 or an 11. It’s the same in Red Dead Redemption 2 as it is in real life. If you cannot reach 21, you cannot go over, otherwise, you’ll “bust.”
This means you’ll need to get as close to 21 as possible without going over, but you’ll also need to beat the dealer’s hand, too.
You’ll initially be dealt two cards, and a general rule here is that if you’re nearing or over 15, you’ll probably want to hold off taking any more cards. That’s because the chance of you receiving a card of 6 or less, is less likely than you drawing a card that’s going to take you over 21.
Essentially, Blackjack is an incredibly luck-based game. But by following the rule we’ve suggested here, you’ll hopefully minimize the number of times you go bust on a hand.
That’s pretty much all there really is that you need to know about where to play Blackjack in Red Dead Redemption 2. For more tips, tricks, and information on Rockstar’s latest open world epic, be sure to check out our comprehensive Red Dead Redemption 2 guide wiki.
