How to Get a Fallout 76 Beta Code (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Just as has been the case with the Elder Scrolls, Fallout is now making the jump from a single-player RPG to a MMORPG with Fallout 76. The big difference is that the game is being developed in-house by Bethesda, rather than being handled by a different studio. It is, therefore, very much a core Fallout experience. But we’re desperate to get our hands on the game to get a feel for how the series’ gameplay translates to an MMO experience. Good thing there’s a beta on the way! Here’s how to get a Fallout 76 Beta Code for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Acquiring the beta code for Fallout 76 is a pretty simple procedure, but it does require pre-ordering the game. All you need to do is pre-order Fallout 76 and you’ll be given a beta code as part of your order. This can be found either on your pre-order receipt or email confirmation. From there, head over the Bethesda.net and either sign in to your account or create one. You’ll then be prompted to enter your code onto a web-page before your access to beta is granted.

Bethesda has laid out the instructions here on their own site.

Do keep in mind that the Fallout 76 beta is being run in allocated sessions. Rather than being one continuous beta that users can freely log in and out of, you’ll be restricted to certain session times that you can access the game depending on what platform you’re playing it on. Bethesda is implementing this so that it can stress-test the server loads with a controlled number of users. You should expect some bugs and technical hiccups along the way.

Xbox One users are the first to have access to the beta, which kicks off today, Oct. 23. The beta will then open up to PS4 and PC players next week. The first beta session is scheduled to begin at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET and run until 8 PM PT / 11 PM ET. No further dates and times have been announced yet, but Bethesda says it will be running during “targeted time frames.”
