My Hero One’s Justice brings some of the most popular characters from the series together in order to duke it out in arena battles. You’ll be able to play as plenty of your favorite characters including All Might, Bakugo, Tokoyami, Dabi, and more. The game’s fast-paced combat system lets you dash around the battlefield and unleash normal attacks as well as Quirk specials. Of course, there’s another important aspect to battles, sidekicks. Here’s how to use sidekicks in My Hero One’s Justice.

What Sidekicks Do

Before each battle in My Hero One’s Justice you’ll pick your main character and two sidekicks. You won’t be playing as the sidekicks you pick, but you will be able to call them in for assists to help out. Each character in the game has a different assist when you call them in, and it’s basically a move ripped right from their moveset. For example, calling Jiro in will have her unleash a headphone shockwave straight ahead of her, whereas calling Tsuyu in will have her grab your character with her tongue and fling you toward the enemy.

How to Use Sidekicks

Your two sidekicks each have a cooldown gauge during a battle. You’ll see their character portraits right underneath your own, with a yellow gauge underneath them. The gauge will fill up as you fight, and once full their character portrait will light up. At that point you can press L2 or R2 to call the sidekick in at any time. L2 will correspond to the sidekick on the left, while R2 works for the one on the right. After you’ve used a sidekick they’ll be set back on a cooldown, and the gauge will have to fill up once again.

It’s a good idea to try every character in My Hero One’s Justice as a sidekick, as they each function differently. See which ones you like best, and develop a strategy around using them. Sidekicks are always usable in local matches and online matches, however, there are certain times in the story or missions mode that you won’t be able to use them.
