How to Beat the Gardens of Esila Ascendant Challenge in Destiny 2 Forsaken
The Dreaming City in Destiny 2: Forsaken has plenty of secrets hidden throughout its landscape, including activities and challenges that will reward you with Powerful Gear and Dark Fragments. One such activity, known as the Ascendant Challenge, can be acquired through Petra Venj each week. In order to complete this task, you’ll need to follow a few different steps, which vary week to week.
Once you have gotten this quest from Petra this week, the first thing you are going to want to do is make sure you have the consumable called Tincture of Queensfoil. This new item will allow you to see the portal that will be necessary to complete this challenge, as well as other secrets in the area. If you are having trouble finding this resource, you can refer to our guide.
After you have Queensfoil, head over to the area known as the Gardens of Esila. Once there, go to the circular plaza and consume the Queensfoil. Nearby you’ll see a cliffside with some floating islands. Traversing these platforms will lead you straight to a giant portal. Once through, you’ll be in an area that requires you to collect orb charges that are scattered throughout the map. As with previous orb centric challenges, simply grab an orb and bring it to the necessary location. This challenge will see you return them to the blight pond located in the center of the area. Keep in mind that there are Taken Phalanx that guard the pond, so you’ll need to be careful when slamming the orbs. Avoid walking into blights as well, as they will limit your movement and likely get you killed.
Once you have returned every orb to the center, a supercharging well of light will appear. Spam the well in order to kill the three Knights that appear to complete this challenge. Don’t fight until the Knights appear. When they do arrive, take advantage of supers that will help you keep your distance from them such as Sunbreaker’s hammers or the Dawnblade’s sword attacks. These attacks will work far better than up close and personal attacks. If you survive, a chest will appear, meaning you’ve completed the challenge, earning Dark Fragments and Powerful gear to boot.
That is how you complete Gardens of Esila Ascendant Challenge (Week 2) in Destiny 2: Forsaken. For more guides, tips, and tricks, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
