How to Use Perks in Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta

Recommended Videos

The beta for Black Ops 4’s Blackout, the all new Call of Duty battle royale mode, is finally here. This mode sets itself apart from its competitors in a few different ways. At first glance, players will recognize that the map is made up of old maps from the Black Ops series. These maps have been reworked to fit more cohesively into the Blackout map, but each still feel distinct and players will soon have their favorite spots to drop in. The additions of land, sea, and air vehicles also further defines the difference between other battle royale games currently on the market. Of course, Zombies also make a return in Blackout as environmental hazards players must be constantly aware of as they traverse the map. Perks also make their way into Blackout but work a little differently than many multiplayer player’s know.

Perks can be found around the map just like any other weapon or piece of equipment. They go into a separate section of the UI that can be accessed by clicking up on the d-pad. Once you have that screen open, select the perk you want to use with square and it will equip it. Beware, however, because perks have a timer on them, so be sure you’re only equipping them before a fight or a long trip across the map. Players can have up to three perks equipped at a given time, but can hold more than that.

The Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Blackout Beta is currently out for PlayStation 4 players and runs until Sept. 17. For Xbox and PC players they can play starting Sept. 14. Blackout is part the upcoming Call of Duty entry, Black Ops 4, which releases on Oct. 12.
