How to Drift in The Crew 2 – Drifting Guide
Drifting. It’s one of those driving techniques that’s impressive to just sit back and appreciate whether you’re a real motor head or not. There’s something elegant in all of the tire screeching and smoke in the way the car effortlessly slips around the corner. The Crew 2, being a competent racer, gives players the opportunity to drift themselves. It’ll take a while to get used to, but here are a few things to keep in mind to help you drift in The Crew 2.
First off, it’s worth keeping in mind that there are two different ways to drift in The Crew 2. The first, and the easier for beginners to handle is to just tap the normal brake button while turning into the corner. Only tap this, though, and only briefly before pushing the stick to the side you need to turn. With a bit of luck, you should see your car begin to go sideways and the telltale smoke from the back tires. To maintain a drift, you’ll then need to feather between left and right on your left analog stick, as well as keep your revs high.
If you find yourself turning in too much during a drift in The Crew 2, simply pull your analog stick out of the turn so your car almost glides along that line. If you need to turn more sharply into the corner, move the analog stick into the turn.
The second and more difficult way to drift in The Crew 2 is to use the traditional E-Brake method. This will require you pushing Square (X on Xbox One) just before you start turning in. Again, this only needs a quick press, as too long will have you turning in too sharply and U-turning. The principles after this tend to be the same, but getting just the right amount of E-Brake and knowing when to pull off and turn is that little bit more difficult.
How to Get High Scores in Drifting Challenges in The Crew 2
When it comes to taking on the drifting challenges in The Crew 2, you’ll find that Drift-class cars are perfectly tuned for chaining a left-hand drift into a right-hand, and generally are pretty perfect for pulling off consecutive drifts and racking up that combo bonus. What you’ll want to do is rack up speed going into a corner, take it wide, tap your brakes and turn in until the tires start smoking and screeching and the car begins turning sideways. If you’ve got a tight turn the other way coming up, try and drift yourself back into the middle of the road, use your nitrous, and begin turning the other way. This should lead you to chaining them together.
The most important thing is keeping your chain going, so mini drifting stints down a straight and avoiding obstacles should be your top priorities, not necessarily the duration of your drift or the speed you take the corner.
That’s pretty much all you need to know to drift in The Crew 2. For more on the game, be sure to check out our comprehensive wiki.
