Free Games in June 2018

SMITE

This month’s free offerings from Games With Gold don’t feature any heavy hitters, but these are still some pretty fun games to spend some time with if you don’t have anything else to play at the moment. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia is the final game in the Chronicles spin-off series, and it’s set during the October Revolution of 20th century Russia.

The Smite Gold Bundle is also definitely worth picking up if you’ve been thinking about getting into this popular MOBA. The bundle comes with a ton of cosmetic items, skin packs, and announcer packs. It’s a very good deal, especially considering the total value for everything that’s being offered here. If none of these strike your fancy, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and LEGO Indiana Jones 2 are fun multiplayer games that you can easily enjoy with friends and family.

2017

On the other hand, the free games being offered by Sony are a little more attractive, though that still depends on the kind of genres that you tend to prefer. The big headlining title for June 2018 is XCOM 2, which is pretty much a must-play for anyone who enjoys tactical RPGs. Deaths are permanent in XCOM 2, so you’ll want to be careful about getting too attached to your squad, and learn how to play optimally.

Trials Fusion is another good one to look out for. The game features a ton of fun and interesting tracks that you can try out, and there are also global leaderboards and challenges to check out if you’re a more competitive player. For the players who still enjoy switching on their PS3s and Vitas from time to time, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is still an enjoyable experience today, and Atomic Ninjas is a competitive multiplayer game where you must outsmart your foes instead of killing them directly.

Banner Saga

If you’re a Twitch Prime subscriber, you get to add five more (PC) games to your collection for free as well. With The Banner Saga 3 just looming on the horizon, now’s as good a time as any to hop into the first two games and see just what all the hype is about. The Banner Saga is a tactical RPG where you must lead your Viking clan to glory. There are various decisions to be made along the way, and these will carry over to the sequels.

For fans of FPS games, Strafe is a pretty bloody and gory shooter that offers tons of weapons for you to try out, as well as a catchy soundtrack to bop along to. Tumblestone is an action puzzle game that lets you play against your friends, while Treadnaut is an arena-brawler where you and your friends get to pilot your own tanks and try to destroy each other.

Steam

Free Games in June 2018

As always, there are tons of free and free-to-play games coming to Steam in June 2018. However, there were only two that really caught our eye this time. The first it Rocket Valley Tycoon, which is essentially a strategy game where you must mine for resources, complete quest, and then build your very own rocket. There’s a tech tree to follow as well, and this should appeal to fans of the strategy/resource management genre.

Cat Burglar: A Tail of Purrsuit is a stealthy platformer game where you take control of a cat who’s trying to get past the “dastardly dogs” who want to obstruct her path. The art style and graphics look rather charming, and the kitty protagonist herself looks absolutely adorable. For a free game, this definitely looks like one worth checking out at least.

You can take a look at a list of all the free games coming to Steam this month here.
