After what was a busy March, seeing the release of Sea of Thieves, Far Cry 5, and Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom, the slate of video game releases is beginning to quieten down once again as we move towards the Summer months. While there’s no shortage of releases in terms of numbers, with a lot of indie games making their way to Nintendo Switch, there’s only a few high profile titles to look forward to.

The first two weeks of April 2018 are certainly more focused on indie releases than AAA blockbusters. A lot of smaller games you’ve probably not heard of before are making their way to Switch, such as The Bunker, the horror game from British developer Splendy Games. The most high-profile release of the two week period is probably the long awaited arrival of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice on Xbox One on April 11. Here’s the full list:

(WEEKS THREE & FOUR: April 15 – April 30)
The second half of April is lighter on releases but is where we find the more high-profile titles. Yakuza 6: The Song of Life comes to the West, concluding Kazuma Kiryu’s story, on April 17, while the next PlayStation 4 first-party exclusive, God of War, releases on April 20. God of War changes the format of the series quite a bit, moving away slightly from Kratos’ shouty/angry past towards a story based on a father and son relationship.
However, if you’re looking for something very different, April also sees the release of Nintendo Labo. Labo allows you to create things using the cardboard included and bring them to life with the Nintendo Switch. South Park: The Fractured But Whole is also making its way to Switch at the end of the month. The full list in the second half of April is:
- April 17 – Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (PS4)
