NAT Type on Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch has been one of the smash hits of 2017, already selling millions of units. Nintendo has brought their unique and innovative approach to gaming once again and the console has no shortage of fun games to play online with friends. However, there are some who might want to get a bit more technical with their online network settings than the day to day user. For better online performance, players may want what’s called an Open NAT Type which, in layman’s terms, offers your console a less limited connection. Thankfully, you can configure your NAT Type settings via a PC.
First off, use your PCÂ to access your online router settings. For those unsure of where to locate that, enter your ISP into a browser URL and it should bring you to it. It’ll also ask for a username and password which, for most, will be admin and password. Or it can be the default settings for your router if that still fails.
From here, you want to look for the DMZ setting, usually under security settings, and enable it for your Switch’s IP address. If you don’t know what that is, you can check connected devices on the router settings or check via the Switch itself under Internet Settings. Once you’ve enabled it for your Switch, do a connection test on the console. It should have a NAT Type listed followed by either A, B, or C. What you want is an A because and A means you now have an Open NAT Type.
With all that done you should be good to go and ready to enjoy your enhanced multiplayer experience. That’s all you need to know for getting an Open NAT Type on Nintendo Switch. For more useful information on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
