The Nintendo Switch has had a pretty incredible 2017 for releases. Almost every month has brought at least one major exclusive title and a plethora of indie titles to pad out the eShop library. December is no different and the headline title hitting the Switch this month is Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which is actually out today.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 lets players explore a sprawling open world on the back of giant monsters as Rex, who’s searching for something called Elysium. Just as you’d expect from an open-world RPG, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has a ton of side quests and distractions to fill out its world and give players plenty to do. If you’ve been looking for a game you can sink hours into on your Switch, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is definitely what you’re looking for.

Hello Neighbor

(Xbox One – Dec. 8)

The busy fall season has brought with it a ton of action-packed titles and huge blockbusters that all more or less feel fairly familiar in one way or another. Hello Neighbor, in that regard, is a pallet cleanser of sorts. Tasking you with sneaking into your neighbor’s house and uncovering the mysteries of their basement, Hello Neighbor is more of a puzzle action title than anything else.

Why? Because your neighbor is actually an incredibly clever AI. If you try and waltz on in through the front door, he’s going to set up cameras to keep an eye on you and chase you away. See an open window? He’ll have it boarded up. The more you play Hello Neighbor, the more creative you’ll need to be if you’re to see what they’re hiding.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds continues rolling out its plans for world domination in December as it releases on the Xbox One via the Preview Program. Players can jump into 100-player battle royale matches either solo, as a duo, or as part of a larger squad. Once you’ve jumped out of the plane and landed on a giant island, you’ll need to act fast to grab the best gear scattered around the island if you want to stand a chance.

Of course, it’s worth noting that PUBG isn’t yet in its final form, so the experience may not be completely flawless just yet. However, if you’ve been itching to try it out for yourself but don’t have the PC to play it, it’s arrival on Xbox One later this month is definitely worth your time.

Okami HD

(Xbox One, PS4, PC – Dec. 12)

When Okami originally released back in 2006, its watercolor art style was striking and beautiful. Fast forward to the release of the PS3 HD port in 2012 and it was somehow improved upon. And now that we’ve got the re-release coming to Xbox One and PS4 (with One X and Pro enhancements), players will finally be able to take in all of the watercolored beauty in full HD, or 4K if you’ve got one of the more powerful systems.

For those unaware, Okami HD follows the story of Amaterasu, the Shinto sun goddess as she embarks on an adventure to save the land from darkness. You’ll use a celestial brush to bring the land back to life and fend off enemies with violent swipes to harness the power of the celestial beings. It’s very much Capcom’s take on Zelda, and it’s one heck of a good time.

Tiny Metal

(PS4, Switch, PC – Dec. 21)

If you’ve been looking for a strategic military game to dive into, y’know, something like Advance Wars, then Tiny Metal is basically the game you want. Players assume the role of Artemisian Lieutenant, Nathan Gries, as he commands his units to victory against the nation of Zipang. With access to over 15 different units and a bunch of friends and enemies popping up along the way, it’s sure to be a fun little single-player experience.

On top of the campaign, the game also has a 1 vs. 1 multiplayer mode so you can put the skills you developed in the campaign to the test against friends and others online.
