Chloe – Life is Strange

Do you just so happen to own a white tank top with a black graphic that screams rock n’ roll? Do you also have a pair of distressed blue jeans, black boots, and a beanie? Well turns out you have almost all the essentials to create a cosplay of Chloe from Life is Strange. The final piece, of course, would be Chloe’s blue hairstyle that serves as her most distinctive feature. Temporary hair dye or a blue wig are both inexpensive purchases that will vital to a proper Chloe cosplay. If you really want to get into the nitty-gritty of a detailed Chloe cosplay, however, you can dare to recreate her tattoo sleeve as well.

B.J. Blazkowicz – Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus

B.J. Blazkowicz is back again in Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, which makes him a prime candidate for video game cosplays this Halloween. B.J. really only requires you to have enough skills with costume makeup to recreate the scar going down one side of his face. If you aren’t a natural blonde then temporary hair dye or a wig will be all you need — particularly for Rule 63 versions of B.J. The rest of B.J.’s looks is pretty easy to replicate as long as you can get your hands on a jacket that looks very similar to the one B.J. is seen sporting. If you want an exact replica, they are actually pretty easy to find but you’ll probably want to consider increasing your Halloween budget.

Reaper or McCree – Overwatch

Overwatch characters will obviously be a huge hit this Halloween and a drinking game based on how many D.Va’s you see in one night will probably give you the hangover of a lifetime. But if you’re looking for an Overwatch character that will be relatively easy to recreate and also be a hit with Halloween party goers who have never even heard of Overwatch, Reaper and McCree are the way to go. On the surface, these characters will look like your usual Halloween costumes — the Grim Reaper and a cowboy. Finding cheap ways to piece together a Reaper or McCree cosplay using pieces from your local costume store should be pretty easy for that very reason. Now you only have to spend money or time on the details that make Reaper and McCree stand out when compared to the Halloween costume cliches at their foundation.

The massive shells strapped to Reaper can actually be recreated by painting small cans (like soup cans) and there are some pretty inexpensive bundles that include his mask and guns. As for McCree, you can easily piece the vast majority of his cosplay together with your usual Western themed costume accessories and create your own “BAMF” belt buckle. If you’re looking for a budget friendly cosplay you’ll likely have to bypass McCree’s metal arm and chest plate but if you toss a fat cigar in your mouth and spend your night reminding people that it’s high noon your point will still get across.

Inklings – Splatoon 2

Anyone who has their finger on the pulse of urban wear can easily create an Inkling cosplay with anything in their closet. Dressing up as a cool squid kid is an easy task as long as you have some cool sneakers, athletic gear, and face paint (or tons of eyeliner) on hand. With the growing popularity of Splatoon, buying an inkling hat is an easy and inexpensive task to bring the whole cosplay together just in time for Halloween. As for your weapon of choice, it should be easy to find a Nerf gun or dollar store water gun that resembles the same arsenal the inklings run around with.

Fortnite Heroes

If you’re looking for a fun, trendy closet cosplay for Halloween this year, dress up as any of the heroes available in Fortnite. Recreating any of these heroes will be an easy task since none of the heroes are dressed in a way that requires armor, prosthetics or any other tricky element. For this cosplay, a trip to any discount clothing store or superstore will likely give you everything you need. We’d be willing to bet that stopping by Walmart would even give you all the pieces to a Fortnite hero cosplay. Once you get the clothing and hairstyle down, just think of creative ways to reference Fortnite specifically. Try recreating the large blueprint that your hero holds when constructing or a large BluGlo prop. If you have a group of friends all looking for simple cosplay, you can really drive the Fortnite theme home by having each of your friends cosplay as a hero from a different class.

Kylo Ren – Star Wars

star wars, episode viii, episode 8

Star Wars characters are in abundance every Halloween and with Battlefront 2’s release date fast approaching, it’s safe to say that you won’t be the only Star Wars character at any Halloween function. But don’t let that stop you from embracing your love of the Force. In all honesty, sometimes it’s fun to have a popular cosplay from a popular universe on Halloween because this holiday is typically less about who has the most impressive cosplay and more about having ridiculous amounts of fun while consuming asinine amounts of candy and booze. Cosplaying as a character like Kylo Ren will give you an easy ice breaker for the many other Star Wars cosplayers and fans you’ll come across. If you’re wondering why Kylo Ren specifically made this Halloween cosplay list, it’s because he is a relatively easy character to recreate with inexpensive costumes that are easy to find and will cost less than $100 — if you want to upgrade the costume’s material, however, you’ll be looking at paying a premium. He also has the most distinct lightsaber, which is a plus.

A Dream Daddy

Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator became a huge, viral hit with each of the game’s dads garnering a dedicated following of their very own. Each dad has his own distinct style so it should be easy to find one whose style is close enough to your own that some of the pieces for the cosplay are already buried in the back of your closet somewhere. All you’ll need to worry about here are piecing together similar outfits and styling your hair to match that of your desired Dream Daddy. After that, you can get creative with props to really help sell the character. For Craig cosplayers, a key prop would be having a baby doll strapped into a baby carrier while anyone cosplaying as Robert should find a way to keep a drink on hand at all times and recreate the tattoo on his hand. If you want to really be a Dream Daddy cosplayer that knows the ins and outs of the game and its story, you should even consider dressing up as Joseph in the mysterious, secret cult ending that players have still been trying to make sense of to this very day.

2B, 9s, or A2 – NieR: Automata

At first glance the NieR: Automata cast may not really seem like the easiest cosplay option for Halloween. In practicality, however, these cosplay options have some great benefits. For one, they don’t require any makeup. While you can always purchase cosplay pieces to put on with ease, learning how to pull off certain makeup looks for Halloween can be a real project that not everyone is willing to take on. 2B, 9S, and A2 cosplay pieces are incredibly easy to find and, believe it or not, relatively inexpensive. While these androids have distinct looks, they don’t have any challenging aesthetics that are expensive to recreate — like armor or anything that would usually require lighting or prosthetics. It’s a cosplay that will truly stand out, still be comfortable, and not require a lot of personal crafting on your end.

A Loot Box

If you want to be the most sought-after person at any Halloween function, there’s no better cosplay idea than a loot box. The controversy around these little guys has been growing as more and more games have started using loot boxes as a way to drive microtransactions. While loot boxes used to only be standard for multiplayer games, they have recently been making their way over to single player RPGs like Middle-earth: Shadow of War. Now whether you’re okay with this or not isn’t really the point here. If you are just looking for a cosplay idea that is guaranteed to turn heads and have everyone in the room chasing after you, a loot box is an easy and fun way to go.

Frying Pan – PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

When it comes down to it, Halloween is about the scares. It’s about the chills that a horrifying creature can send crawling up your spine and that split second your heart stops when something unexpectedly terrifying catches your eye. That’s why dressing up as the frying pan from PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a great Halloween cosplay option. Seeing a player coming towards you with the frying pan in their hands is one of the most hilariously terrifying things you’ll ever witness in PUBG. This weapon may look silly but anyone who underestimates its power will see their game end pretty quickly. If you aren’t feeling crazy enough to walk around dressed as a giant frying pan then feel free to throw an outfit together that’s fitting of the PUBG universe and just carry a frying pan around with you. There are tons of ways to incorporate this viral video game weapon into a fun and simple cosplay for Halloween.
