THE BIG GAMES
XBOX GAMES WITH GOLD FREE GAMES FOR OCTOBER 2017
Every month, Microsoft offers Xbox One and Xbox 360 players some free games if they subscribe to a Xbox Live Gold membership. For September, the free games included popular indie Oxenfree on Xbox One and Battlefield 3 on the Xbox 360 starting on the 16th, with Forza Motorsport 5: Racing Game of the Year Edition, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and Trials Fusion still available to download for free until Sept. 30.
There’s usually one “bigger game” every month to really entice users to go with an Xbox Live Gold membership, and although we don’t know for sure, we can guess at what next’s month inclusion might be. For October 2017, we have a strong suspicion that one or more episodes of the original Life is Strange will make its way to subscribers for free. Besides being on Deals with Gold in the past, the Life is Strange series has recently released a prequel following the story of Chloe back when first meeting Rachel Amber, who is missing during the events of the main game. By providing the change for players who missed the original game to go back and try it out, this might encourage them to go on to purchase the prequel Before the Storm afterwards.
Although Life is Strange is also available on Xbox 360, it’s customary for Microsoft to also offer one bigger game for the last generation console specifically as well. For this, it would be interesting to see is Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, since it is one of the only Assassin’s Creed games that hasn’t come to Games with Gold so far.
Check out the second page for a guess on what the indie game inclusion might be for Games with Gold in October 2017.
INDIE
XBOX GAMES WITH GOLD FREE GAMES FOR OCTOBER 2017
Unravel is an absolutely gorgeous indie game from Swedish game developer ColdWood Interactive, released last year in February. It’s actually quite a surprise Unravel hasn’t been included in any Games with Gold months thus far, as it is a medium-length, easy but fun platformer that did quite well critically last year that could appeal to players who might want easier gameplay. It also does a great job of showing off the visual capabilities of the Xbox One.
Unravel was also once offered for free to PS Plus subscribers in December 2016, and has so far only been on sale on Xbox One occasionally for Deals with Gold. If we don’t see Unravel in October, expect it sometime soon as its’ a pretty easy choice for Microsoft to include in Games with Gold as the indie game for the month.
Make sure to check back soon when the Games with Gold free titles for October 2017 are officially confirmed, so you can know what games are available and how long you have to download them.
