(WEEKS ONE & TWO: 8/1 – 8/5 & 8/6 – 8/12)

August 2017 kicks things off with a few titles in its first week for the Xbox One. While Ark: Survival Evolved finally goes on sale as a full game release after a number of months as an early access title, retro fans will be pleased to see Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 bringing titles 7 through 10, a challenge mode with stage remixes, online leaderboards, and more to the Xbox One.

Arguably the most anticipated Xbox One game release in this opening week of August, however, comes first and in the form of Tacoma. Developed by the team behind the critically-acclaimed Gone Home, Tacoma tells a story set in a Lunar Transfer Station thousands of miles away from Earth. The team hasn’t shared much about the story, but expect plenty of listening into conversations and interacting with the world once again with this one.

You can check out all of the Xbox One releases for the first and second weeks of August 2017 below:

  • Aug. 2 – Tacoma
  • Aug. 8 – Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
  • Aug. 8 – Ark: Survival Evolved

(WEEK THREE: 8/13 – 8/19)

Agents of Mayhem

August’s third week offers up a few more Xbox One titles, too, and all on the same date. Aug. 15 will bring the spiritual successor to Saints Row, Agents of Mayhem. The title puts players in control of the Agents of Mayhem as they run an operation to take down the supervillain organization known as LEGION. You’ll be able to explore the city of Seoul at your leisure, control a variety of uniquely skilled Agents, and leave a trail of destruction as they go about doing it all.

If you’re looking for something a little different then fear not as Sonic Mania has your back. Bringing back the old-school 2D Sonic experience that fans have come to fondly reminisce over, Sonic Mania packs in a bunch of all-new Zones alongside re-imagined classics. To top it all off, the game will look silky smooth, with the blue blur being displayed at 60 FPS throughout.

  • Aug. 15 – Agents of Mayhem
  • Aug. 15 – The Pillars of The Earth Book 1: From The Ashes

escapists 2

August 2017 shows no signs of slowing down as we hit week four. The Escapists 2 brings more prisons to escape from, drop in/ drop out multiplayer, character customization, and a whole lot more. A couple of days later, Telltale Games continues its adventure across space with episode three of its Guardians of the Galaxy series. This time around, the spotlight will be shining on the blossoming relationship between Gamora and Star-Lord, while also not forgetting about Nebula feuding away in the corner.

The following day, football and F1 fans get their annual treat from EA Sports and Codemasters respectively. The latest entries in both the Madden and F1 series release on Aug. 25, bringing updated rosters and a new game mode for Madden, and a fresh set of cars, tracks, and tweaks for F1.

August 2017 XBOX ONE GAME RELEASES

(WEEK FIVE: 8/27 – 8/31)

life is strange, before the storm

August 2017’s final week is arguably the strongest lineup of releases for the Xbox One in the month. Aug. 29 sees the release of four games including the complete edition of the incredibly popular isometric RPG, Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition. Meanwhile, Hello Neighbor tasks you with breaking into and exploring your neighbor’s house. The problem here lies in the fact you’re facing off against a very intelligent AI who learns your tricks each and every time he catches you. You’ll have to really think outside of the box if you’re to succeed in finding out what secrets he’s hiding.

On the final day of the month, Resident Evil Revelations gets a proper release on the Xbox One. Having released on the 3DS first back in 2012, Revelations has since come to PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360.

Rounding out August’s offerings is the first episode Life is Strange: Before the Storm. Episode one of the three-part series will introduce players to a younger Chloe during the time she was bestest buds with Rachel Amber. While this isn’t developed by the same team as the original series, from what we’ve seen so far, this prequel series is more than shaping up to do the beloved IP justice.

You can check out all of the Xbox One releases for the fifth and final week of August 2017 below:

  • Aug. 29 – Absolver
  • Aug. 29 – Hello Neighbor
  • Aug. 29 – Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition
  • Aug. 29 – Redout
  • Aug. 31 – Resident Evil Revelations
  • Aug. 31 – Life is Strange: Before the Storm – Episode One
