Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 Episode 1 Story Summary

Minecraft: Story Mode season 2 opens with a voiceover by Lukas. He begins a brief narration of the events that had occurred in season 1, and it’s soon revealed that he’s been writing a book about the gang’s adventures. Lukas intended to have the book ready for a reading on Founder’s Day in Beacontown, but he was unable to complete it in time.

Olivia, Axel, and Jesse are all present in Jesse’s office in Beacontown. At this point, we find out that the gang has all gone their separate ways since defeating the Witherstorm in season 1. Jesse’s the only one who lives in Beacontown at the moment, and it’s clear that it’s been a while since all of them have gathered together, or even gone on an adventure.

We’re also introduced to Radar, Jesse’s new intern. Jesse is officially designated the “Hero in Residence” in Beacontown, but she’s really more of a boss or a mayor who keeps things running in the city. Radar tells Jesse that Petra’s waiting for her in the mines, and the other three start to take their leave. Jesse can make a comment on their departure, choosing to either be understanding, or a little upset that they don’t spend much time together anymore.

In Beacontown, Jesse can interact with several citizens, helping with their preparations for Founder’s Day before going to meet Petra in the mines.

The Mines

When Jesse finally makes her way to the mines, she finds Petra and the two start fighting off zombies. However, Jesse notices that Petra doesn’t have her trademark golden sword with her, and is instead using a normal iron sword. When she asks about it, Petra deflects the question and tells Jesse that she needs her help to find something cool in the mines.

To rekindle their spirit of adventure, Petra challenges Jesse to a race in the mines. During the race, Jesse fends off several zombies, steals a steak from one of the mine workers, and jumps over pits of lava while escaping deadly spiders. Near the finish line, Jesse notices that Petra is slowly getting overwhelmed by the spiders. If you choose to do so, you can help Petra fight off the spiders, but once the threat is eliminated, Petra will dash towards the finish line and win the race.

As the pair finally reaches the depths of the mines, Jesse asks again what exactly is the cool thing Petra wants to show her. After a brief but tense buildup, we see that the thing in question was a llama. Jesse looks nonplussed, but Petra assures her that the llama is important, and it has the ability to find treasures.

Jesse starts hearing a creepy voice whispering her name, but Petra doesn’t hear anything. They get deeper into the mines, and Jesse finds a prismarine gauntlet sitting at the top of some rocks. She takes the gauntlet as the whispers get louder, and when she puts it on, she finds that it’s not so easily removed. Suddenly, a large hole appears beneath their feet, and it seems to be some sort of endless, swirling vortex of doom. The pair quickly cover up the hole, soon referred to as the Heckmouth, before exiting the mines.

Once they’re back on the surface, Jesse asks why the llama is so important. Petra finally reveals that Stella, the mayor of Champion City, scammed her out of her beloved sword, and refuses to give it back unless she retrieves her llama. The pair then make their way to Champion City to confront Stella.

Champion City

Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 Episode 1 Story Summary

Upon arriving in Champion City, Jesse makes a remark about how there are llama motifs everywhere. They soon find Stella in the courtyard, where she’s seen giving away puppies to her citizens. However, when Petra confronts her about the sword, Stella simply takes her llama back and refuses to give the sword back. Jesse then steps in, and Stella quickly realizes who she is. She declares Jesse as her sworn rival as they’re both mayors of different cities, but Jesse laughs at the idea because the two have never even met before.

Soon after, Stella drops a big reveal. She mentions that Petra isn’t in the position to be making threats as she was the one who offered to work for her in exchange for the opportunity to live in Champion City instead of Beacontown. Jesse is shocked and betrayed, and Stella leaves the scene, laughing away.

Before Jesse and Petra get into any sort of argument, they decide to retrieve the sword first by breaking into Stella’s treasure room. After sneaking in, the sword is nowhere to be seen. They quickly hide in a corner as they hear Stella’s footsteps approaching. Stella is seen waving the golden sword around, while playacting her fantasy of saving the world alongside Jesse, whom she clearly looks up to as her hero and idol. Jesse and Petra come out of hiding, and Stella pauses in embarrassment. Jesse blackmails Stella into handing the sword over before leaving the premises.

Outside Champion City, Petra tries to apologize for lying, as Jesse tries to understand why she wanted to leave in the first place. Petra says that she just wanted a place of her own, and that she never felt that she belonged in Beacontown. Petra was also affected by their distancing friendships, and said she didn’t want to just wait around for the whole gang to get together and go adventuring anymore. Before the conversation continues any further, the Heckmouth explodes to the surface, and tons of creepers appear. Jesse and Petra defeat the creepers before covering up the Heckmouth again. Petra says that she knows a man named Jack who might be able to tell them more about the prismarine gauntlet.

The Sea Temple

Jesse and Petra return to Beacontown where they look for Jack and Nurm, the leading weapon specialists of the area. Petra admits that she doesn’t actually know Jack, but she’s a huge fan of him and his work. When they find Jack, he admits that he does know what the prismarine gauntlet is, but refuses to give them any more information. Jesse presses him further, and he reveals that he and his friends had gone adventuring in the Sea Temple years ago, but he was the only one who made it out alive. The prismarine gauntlet had something to do with that temple and the treasure that lies within.

After more persuasion, Jack and Nurm finally agree to take Jesse and Petra to the Sea Temple. When Jesse returns to her office to grab some armor, she leaves Radar in charge of Beacontown affairs.

Before actually entering the Sea Temple, Jack tells them about some rumors he’d heard before. Something about a being called an Admin who could manipulate the terrain in the world they live in. When they dive into the Sea Temple, Jack is visibly shaken as he’s reminded of his trauma from the place. As they venture deeper into the Temple, they find evil guardian fishes blocking their way, and they devise a plan to take them down. However, things go awry when Jack has a sudden breakdown. Jesse helps Jack defeat the fish, and Jack reveals that he froze when he saw a pile of inventory on the ground that belonged to one of his friends who died.

After looking around a bit more, Jesse finds a way to open a large locked door in the Temple, and this also opens a nearby cage, revealing Vos, one of Jack’s friends from his previous adventure. Jack is elated at the sight of Vos. Vos reveals that he’s just been surviving on pork chops all these years. The group heads deeper into the Temple, and Jesse finally finds the Structure Block to help close the Heckmouth. She has a choice between a Warrior and Building block – one is offensive, and the other defensive. Regardless of whichever block you choose, the group will be confronted by zombies, and a large stone statue who is revealed to be the legendary Admin.

During the confrontation, Jesse will have to make a decision between helping Petra or Jack. If you choose Petra, Jack will lose an eye. Whichever you choose, the group will make a close escape out of the Sea Temple as the Admin looks on in anger.

Admin Strikes Back

Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 Episode 1 Story Summary

Back in Beacontown, Jesse closes up the Heckmouth with the Structure Block. Founder’s Day is a success as well, and everyone seems happy. However, the peace doesn’t last long. The citizens hear a huge rumble in the distance, and the Admin shows up at Beacontown, threatening to destroy everything.

After the credits roll, we get a scene of Lukas noticing the trouble that’s headed towards Beacontown. He gets on his horse and rides in that direction to offer his assistance.
