Final Fantasy VII Remake
Don’t Get Your Hopes Up for These Games at E3 2017
When Final Fantasy VII Remake was first announced at Sony’s E3 conference back in 2015, fans all over the world lost their minds. Arguably the most iconic title in the series was returning with a fresh lick of paint. Unfortunately, the title’s early development has been anything but smooth sailing, especially with the recent news that Square Enix has moved development in-house.
While Final Fantasy VII Remake hasn’t been ruled out of showing up at E3 2017, it’s certainly not looking good. Square Enix recently told fans that it’s likely the game will come out in the next three years or so. With that in mind and with the recent shift to internal development, it’s highly unlikely Square Enix has anything prepared to showcase the game’s progress. While it’d be great to see it shaping up nicely, it’s probably best to just keep your expectations grounded on this one.
Shenmue 3

Shenmue 3 was another of the titles that was first announced during Sony’s E3 2015 conference. This time around, however, the game’s Kickstarter was announced, which, as expected, smashed its goal pretty damn quickly. Successfully funded and currently in development, Shenmue 3 is one of the major upcoming titles for PlayStation fans.
Touted as the “true sequel” to the classic open world ARPG titles Shenmue, and Shenmue 2, the game will feature familiar elements from its predecessors, while implementing new fight mechanics to bring the series to the modern era.
Unfortunately, developer Ys Net explained that rather than attending E3 in June, they’d be spending the month focusing on development. While it’s certainly disappointing news, it’s entirely understandable and if it means a better game at the end of the day, we’re all for it. Still, an update in the near future wouldn’t go amiss, but E3 2017 certainly won’t be where we receive it.
Halo 6

E3 2017 is shaping up to be a pretty huge show for Microsoft as it officially unveils its Project Scorpio for the first time. The “most powerful console in the world” is set to be capable of running games in native 4K resolutions, as opposed to the PS4 Pro’s upscaled 4K. As such, you can bet your bottom dollar that Microsoft will want to show just how great games look on the Scorpio, and one game that most definitely would have managed that is Halo 6.
Unfortunately, however, 343 Studios has confirmed that Halo 6 will not be at E3 2017, but there will be a little something there for fans. Exactly what that is remains to be seen, but any hopes of Halo 6 stealing the show can be put to rest.
The Next Life Is Strange

DONTNOD Entertainment just a couple of weeks back announced that, following the overwhelmingly positive reception to Life Is Strange, the team was busy at work on another game within the franchise. Specific details on whether it’ll focus on Max Caulfield still remains to be seen, but knowing that another title was in development was enough for fans.
Unfortunately, the team did also confirm that the upcoming Life Is Strange title wouldn’t be making its way to E3 shortly after the thank you video that featured the reveal was released.
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Don’t Get Your Hopes Up for These Games at E3 2017
Fans have been crying out for a Beyond Good & Evil sequel pretty much ever since the first title released, and in October last year, Ubisoft officially confirmed a sequel was in the works. Michael Ancel, the creator behind the original title is currently working with Ubisoft Montpellier Studio on the project, but other than that details are pretty light. As such, some fans were probably hoping that the title would make an appearance at E3 in just a couple of weeks time.
Unfortunately, Ancel dashed fans’ dreams when he replied to a comment on Instagram where he said that he didn’t think E3 was the right place for Beyond Good & Evil 2. That doesn’t definitely mean that it won’t be a surprise at E3 2017 during Ubisoft’s conference, but it’s hardly what fans were hoping his response would be.
Again, it’s disappointing news for fans who were hoping to get their first proper look at the title, but Ancel did follow-up by letting fans know “we’re working on the game so sometime this year, you should hear about it!” It might not be as soon as fans wanted, but hopefully, it won’t be too much longer after E3 2017.
