Overwatch is currently celebrating its one-year anniversary and players all around the world are busy unlocking over 100 new cosmetic items that were released as part of the fun. Alongside all of these skins and in-game events, Blizzard has also opened up the game to everyone on PC, PS4, and Xbox One via a Free Weekend event. As such, players may be wondering exactly how they can play during this free weekend and exactly when it’s running from and until.

The Free Weekend event to celebrate the game’s anniversary is taking place this weekend. From 11 AM PT on Friday, May 26, to 11:59 PM PT on Monday, May 29, you can jump into the team-based shooter for free. It’s worth noting, however, that you will have to download the game before you can just jump into the action, so we’ve broken down exactly how you do this on each platform below.

How to Play the Overwatch Free Weekend

If you’re on PC, all you need to do is download and open the Battlenet app, create or log in to your Blizzard account, and select the Overwatch icon. Choose your region from the dropdown menu that appears, and then click install. Once the download has finished, you’re all set to pick your favorite Hero and get to work defending the payload.

PS4 owners need to make their way to the PSN Store and search Overwatch. In the search results, Overwatch Free Weekend should appear. Simply download this and you’re all set.

It’s a little bit different if you’re wanting to take part in the Free Weekend on Xbox One. Again, search Overwatch, but this time select the Game of the Year Edition. You should be given the option to select Free Trial. Confirm and wait for the download to finish. That’s all there is to it.
