How Long the Nintendo Switch Battery Life Lasts

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

The Nintendo Switch is out and it’s a console and handheld hybrid, meaning you can totally take your gaming on the go. You will likely be taking advantage of the mobility of the console, so you might be wondering how much time you can have with your sweet, sweet games before the battery life goes kaput.

Well, it turns out that a Nintendo Switch can last around 6 hours while just chilling and doing nothing, but 3 hours when it’s running a game for that whole time. It might vary even more depending on what kind of game you’re playing, but the 3 hours is based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s play time. It’s a more heftier title, but there’s no doubt that more games will release that will suck the battery in the same way.

If you’re not planning on traveling with your Nintendo Switch, then this absolutely doesn’t apply to you. But if you wanted to take a flight from Miami to Los Angeles, let’s say, you might find that your Switch will die out on you halfway through. It’s more than enough for your morning commutes or boring car rides, though.
