Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links: How to Get Gilford the Lightning

Thanks to the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links’ maintenance scheduled for February 13, players will soon have access to a bunch of new cards if they own the required duelist. One of these new cards is Gilford the Lightning, who is a Warrior/Effect monster that is an 8 star summon equipped with a very powerful ability.

While you can normally summon this monster for sacrificing 2 weaker creatures, Gilford the Lightning allows you to summon up to three face-up monsters. If you do this, then you will destroy all monsters on your opponent’s side of the field, rendering them open for a 2,800 point attack to their life points.

However, there are a few requirements needed in order to obtain this behemoth of a Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links card, as players will need to first unlock Joey Wheeler as a duelist. This is done by beating him in the Duelist World and finishing the small handful of requirements offered in the mission tab at the top left. Once he is unlocked, Gilford the Lightning will more than likely open up at level 35, as the current legendary level cap is at 30. Since new cards are unlocked after every 5 are earned, it’s doubtful that the pattern would change.

This means you will need to do a bit of grinding if you want Gilford the Lightning for your deck. We highly recommend going for Gilford the Lightning in Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links, however, especially if you have a more token focused deck that can have a lot of sacrificial creatures. With some patience, this powerful monster will be yours to command and wipe the battlefield with – we’re sure your opponent didn’t need those monsters anyway.
