PS4 Pro – NieR: Automata
PlatinumGames’ NieR: Automata brings the fast-paced futuristic action to Sony’s home console. For those unaware of what the game is, let us give you a quick rundown. Automata takes place in the distant future where an extra-terrestrial force has unleashed an army known as the “machine lifeforms” on Earth. Mankind has fled to the moon in order to escape the ruthless onslaught, and it’s down to you as Android 2B to reclaim the planet.
While NieR is due to run at a steady 60fps on the normal PS4, owners of the Pro might be wondering whether the game will look even better on the system. The good news is, it definitely will. While the game will run at 1600 x 900 on the regular version, the PS4 Pro will display the whole thing at a native 1920 x 1080 resolution. While this does mean you’ll be getting an enhanced resolution, fans may be disappointed to learn that the Pro won’t be giving the game a 4K makeover. It seems like PlatinumGames was definitely trying, though. Back in November, Producer Yosuke Saito said the team’s goal was to optimize the game for 4K resolutions on the PS4 Pro. Seems like they just couldn’t manage it.
However, fans can also look forward to motion blur, enhanced atmospheric effects, and better-defined shadows on the PS4 Pro. It’s the little things that count, right?
