20 Game Characters Who Make Fashion a High Priority

The most important part of a game’s story is its villain, and in that regard, Pagan far outshined the title he was constrained to. Part of why was his hot pink jacket and pants combo that should look ridiculous (and kinda does), but he makes it work. And if you disagree, well, hope you like that new hole in your neck. The lead of the stylish action game characters franchise knows his way around blades, guns, and all sorts of weaponry, and he also has a pretty good fashion motif. Red and black highlight the “devil” part of his title, and the helps bring together the B-movie vibe the series has gone for.
Yeah, yeah, too many belts and zippers may not exactly scream fashion, especially for our young, wide eyed protagonist. But he has gotten better about it with each subsequent game, and credit to him for always dressing to the occasion when he goes to a new world. Bayonetta’s fashion comes from her head–quite literally, since her clothes are made from her hair. She’s not the type of woman to stick to one style for long, and it definitely shows in both her titles. She’s always going to be changing up her style, and that’s why she’s got the best fashion sense of any gaming character around.
The rookie cop turned federal agent admittedly looks more like he belongs in a boy band than a zombie apocalypse. But that’s actually why he’s one of the best dressed characters in the series: he has those typical pretty boy good looks that means he always looks great, even when he’s running for his life. Lara’s seen many redesigns, like plenty of other game characters. But one thing that’s never changed with each one is her fashion sense and ability to dress properly for the situation. Sure, she’s concerned about the treasure or surviving, but that doesn’t mean you need to catch pneumonia while out in the Siberian cold.

Dante (Devil May Cry)

Commander Shepard (Mass Effect)
Okay, so maybe Shepard wasn't the best at fashion in the first Mass Effect (that pink armor set was the worst). But in the sequels, the armor and color sets looked much better, mostly because you could customize the colors and patterns to your choosing, which certainly didn't hurt things.

The Wrench is one of the new characters you'll meet in Ubisoft's open world hacker sequel, and he definitely looks more distinct from any of the characters in the previous game. Ubisoft's leaning hard into the hacker culture niche, and Wrench is the perfect example of that, most noticeably with his emoji goggles. Do they look stupid? Yes. But do you also kinda want a pair of your own, plus that jacket? Also yes.
Thane Krios (Mass Effect)
In addition to being a deadly shot, Thane's also one of the sharpest dressed people in the galaxy. His suit perfectly complements his elegant method of taking lives, and his alternate skins give him some much needed shades to complete the ensemble.
Sarah Kerrigan (Starcraft)
Okay, so maybe looking fashionable isn't the highest on her priority when compared to the whole galactic domination thing, but still. There's no denying that she looks quite formidable, whether that's as a Ghost or as the tragic figure that is the Queen of Blades.
Ezio Auditore de Firenze (Assassin's Creed)
The Renaissance was a time of flourish and elegance, and Ezio was already a stylish guy before he donned the Assassin hood. Even though his outfit doesn't scream "subtle," there's no denying the glee that comes in watching him put it on and go around town jumping on things.
Beat (Jet Set Radio)
Any member of the cast in Jet Set Radio could be on this list, but Beat is the one that best represents the style of the classic Dreamcast title. He looks like a product of his time from head to toe, his goggles are awesome, and he just looks like a guy you'd wanna hang out with.
Guardian (Destiny)
In the case of Destiny's sometimes silent protagonist, fashion is their life. If they don't have on the right armor that boosts their Light, they could literally die, which is never fun. Sure, it won't always look the best way it could, but props for tying something that's usually minor to the gameplay.
Delsin Rowe (Infamous: Second Son)
Sure, he may be a little rough around the edges, but his artistic personality certainly comes across in every facet of gameplay. Whether he's zipping around town in a neon blur or pulling off some grafitti, Delsin looks good doing it, and the different jackets you can have him wear are all pretty cool looking.
Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil)

Phoenix Wright
Sure, he's just a plain old lawyer who fights for justice and shouts "objection!". But he also looks dapper as all hell, and his hairstyle is on point. Who wouldn't want this guy defending them in court?
Lightning (Final Fantasy XIII)
C'mon, she was a Louis Vitton model, of course she was going to be on here. And even if she wasn't, her final game used her clothes as a way of adding to the game's combat, which is pretty cool. Fighting while changing outfits on the fly can't be easy, but she certainly pulls it off.
Albert Wesker (Resident Evil)
He may look like he stepped out of a Matrix movie, but damn if he doesn't just make it work. Even though Albert is one of the most despicable villains in a game, you also kinda find yourself wishing you could pull off a sunglasses and leather jacket with the sheer perfection that he does.
Sombra (Overwatch)
The new character for Blizzard's hero shooter is still playing the tease game, but by now, we have a pretty good idea of what she looks like. Her undercut is awesome, and her purple jacket is all kinds of badass.
Sander Cohen (BioShock)
The "Renaissance Man" of Rapture knows his way around art of all kinds, and one has to imagine that includes clothing. Even though the first BioShock game shows that the city has gone to hell, his tastes clearly hasn't, and you gotta respect a man who always wants to look on point.
