No Man’s Sky: How to Get Plutonium and What it Does

Plutonium – No Man’s Sky

Recommended Videos

Plutonium is a very important Isotope in No Man’s Sky. Not only is it used to charge your weapons and Life Support, but it’s also required to charge your Launch Thrusters. For that reason, you’ll need to always keep some on hand if you hope to make it off of any planet.

It’s common, but still requires you to keep a lookout if you want to find some quickly. Thankfully, it can be found in a few places. By scanning your surroundings, you’ll notice red and white lightning symbols pop up. Those lead to Isotopes. The ones you want are jagged red crystals. Those are always Plutonium no matter what planet you end up on. Destroy them to get what you need.

You can also find this particular resource in cargo drops marked Isotope. Granted, there are other types you can get, but this one seems to be fairly common in chests.

Remember, Plutonium is used to:

  • Charge Multi-tool.
  • Charge Life Support.
  • Charge Launch Thrusters.
  • To craft certain blueprints.
  • Can be sold.

Keeping a stack in your Exosuit and a larger stack in your Starship is strongly advised.
