Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 is one seriously stylish game. The visuals perfectly capture the intense, explosive action of ninjas at war with every move they make. But, it all really comes together during the over the top secret techniques.
These are huge attacks that can clear almost an entire health bar. They require a large chunk of chakra, and in most cases cannot be activated until a certain point in the match. There are certain multiplayer modes, however, that allow you to perform them immediately and as much as you’d like.
With 100+ characters and Secret Techniques, there’s a lot to see. Here are the 10 best ones in the game – the most jaw-dropping demonstrations of power available.
Six Paths: Massive Rasen Shuriken
Everyone knows that Naruto is one seriously powerful ninja. Things get even crazier when he receives the power of the Sage of the Six Paths. With this power comes a brand new secret technique, the Six Paths: Massive Rasen Shuriken.
Naruto combines three Kuramas (nine-tailed beast) using shadow clone jutsu to deliver an earth shattering tailed-beast bomb along with a monstrous Rasen Shuriken. The opponent is left stunned in the air as both abilities hurtle towards them. The result is a huge explosion of blues, purples, oranges, and reds as the remains of that pour soul are absolutely obliterated.
Do not mess with the Hidden Leaf’s hero.Â
Flying Raijin: Jiku Shippu Senko Rennodan Zeroshiki
This particular secret technique may be difficult to pronounce, but the chance of seeing the Yellow Flash (Minato) in action is one that shouldn’t be passed up. The Flying Raijin is Minato’s teleportation jutsu that allows him to appear anywhere he’s left his mark. When combined with the Nine-Tails Cloak, you get a combo that breaks apart an opponents defense, health, and pride.
Minato bounces around between all the marked kunai he throws, delivering blow after blow to his opponent. Just when they think it’s over, he triggers his Nine-Tails Cloak, and hits them directly in the spine with a Rasengan.
It’s clear to see how he became the fourth Hokage.Â
Planetary Devastation
Nagato is strong, everyone knows that. From him was born Pain and all the destruction that came along with it. But, although Pain is playable in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, Nagato’s own secret technique is much more impressive.
Planetary Devastation places your opponent in a huge boulder. You would think that just smashing that would be lethal enough, but Nagato then transforms his arm into some sci-fi, high-tech blaster. One well placed shot right through the center of that newly formed boulder (with your enemy at its core), and everything goes BOOM!
Super Slap
Pretty much all of the secret techniques here earned their spot by being over the top with huge explosions and stunning jutsu combinations. This one maintains that over-the-top action, but in a much more simple manner. And it’s that simplicity that makes it so great to watch.
Choji uses his expansion jutsu to become a giant, towering over his foe like the beast that he is. Afterwards, does he use a fireball? Does he turn into a huge, spiked ball of ninja? Does he summon the heavens down upon his enemy? No, he slaps the ever-loving crap out of them.
He not only beats a ninja’s body, he beats that ninja’s pride as well.Â
Gale Style: Black Hunting
Darui is one of Killer Bee’s students, and an absolutely deadly ninja. His secret technique, Gale Style: Black Hunting, earns a place here thanks to its insane damage and stylish look.
After sending beasts made of black lightning to hunt down his prey, Darui just can’t be bothered to watch it through to the end. As he turns his back on his exploding victim, you can’t help but be amazed by how cool and laid back Darui is. We can see why Killer Bee thinks so highly of him.Â
Hidden Lotus
Rock Lee is available in Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 as both an adult and a child, but it’s the younger counterpart with the most impressive secret technique. The Hidden Lotus has helped Lee out in the anime, and it will help you out as well (while also making you look great).
Rock Lee can’t use ninjutsu or genjutsu, but his taijutsu is top-notch. Hidden Lotus starts with a combo that lifts the opponent into the air with swift powerful kicks. Just when you think it’s all over and the enemy crashes, Rock Lee uses his arm wraps to bring them right back in range so he can deliver a devastating blow to the gut.
Don’t mess with Rock Lee.
Bracken Dance
Mortal Kombat meets Ultimate Ninja Storm with Kimimaro’s secret technique. Kimimaro’s kekkei genkai allows him to use his own bones as weapons in disgustingly fascinating ways. Bracken Dance is one of the best demonstrations of this skill in action.
A field of bone spikes appear from the ground and launches the opponent into the air. Kimimaro then fashions a bone spike around his arm, which he uses to slam his unlucky victim back down into the field of bones.
Fatality.Â
Sage Art: Inorganic Reanimation
Kabuto has come a long way from being a simple medical ninja during the Chunin exams. He is now a snake sage, much like Lord Orochimaru. HIs altered form offers more power and deadlier results in battle, and this becomes clear during his secret technique.
It starts with an ethereal serpent that can reach across an entire battle field. Once it connects, the opponent is left floating in a trance. This provides Kabuto with just enough time to summon powerful black spikes to impale his opponent from all angles.
The whole situation is pretty intense as you watch a character who struggled with his identity for years appear so monstrous.Â
Hidden Jutsu: Crystal Ice Mirrors
Haku is one of the most memorable shinobi from the Naruto manga/anime. His first appearance left Naruto himself confused, and his relationship with Zabuza taught everyone what it meant to be loyal and dedicated. His ice abilities are what made him a standout, though, particularly his Crystal Ice Mirrors secret technique.
This attack locks enemies in a dome of ice filled with mirrors. Inside each of these mirrors is Haku, and he’ll dash out of each delivering hundreds of strikes and tons of damage. It’s surprisingly pretty, much like the character himself.Â
Love Roar
Iruka sensei was Naruto’s teacher and he is one of the most respected Chunin in all of the Hidden Leaf. His dedication to his students and his willingness to put aside his hatred and fear to protect those he loves makes him one of the most centered characters in the series. He also has one of the funniest secret techniques in the game.
The Love Roar shows Iruka in his natural state, angry and annoyed. He then knocks his opponent on the head just as he would any of his misbehaving students (usually Naruto). The end result is an exasperated Iruka and a huge bump on the enemy’s head. It’s excellently animated and would bring a chuckle to most fans.
