Scattered around the world of The Witcher 3 are tons of different armor and weapons. Chief among these are Witcher gear. Each set provides different perks depending on what school of the Path they come from. Hearts of Stone gives players the opportunity to acquire School of the Viper gear.

During the beginning of the Hearts of Stone main quest Open Sesame, players had the opportunity to purchase the diagrams for the armor. It turns out that later in the same mission (the end, actually), you’ll be able to get your hands on a diagram for one of the weapons as well.

When in the vault at the end of the quest, after you’ve sided with one of the Borsodi brothers and made your final decisions, you’ll be able to loot the second room of the vault. There is a ton of treasure here worth thousands of Crowns, so make sure to open every chest!

If you’re in a rush and don’t want to comb through it all, be sure to at least loot the chest to the right of the House of Maximilian (the initial reason you embarked on this whole quest). Inside this chest you will find an item called Diagram: Viper Venomous Steel Sword.

It requires level 39 to wield (one level higher than the armor) but has a 15% chance to inflict poison, does bonus damage, increased critical chance and damage, and increases your Aard intensity. Unfortunately, it does not pierce armor, but you should be able to make due without that perk.

Just head on over to a blacksmith to get this powerful weapon crafted. Just make sure you have the proper materials first. You’ll need:

  • 2 Leather Scraps
  • 2 Dark Steel Ingots
  • 1 Monster Brain
  • 2 Emerald Dust

So are you going to put this weapon to good use? Let us know in the comments below.
