Mad Max is back in pop-culture in both the form of an adrenaline fueled film starring Tom Hardy and as an upcoming video game which is looking like a ride worth taking. Currently being developed by Avalanche Studios, Mad Max the video game will draw inspiration from all the previous Mad Max films and allow gamers to step into the boots of the Road Warrior.
Gamescom has been in full swing for the last few days and we’ve seen many gameplay videos and trailer for many great games. Many gamers will no doubt have been hoping to see Mad Max in action and now they can.
A gameplay demo was shown off at Gamescom and gives us an in depth look at the wasteland that we’ll have to survive in. The video shows many key features of the game including how Max can climb aboard tethered hot air balloons in order to get a look at the lay of the land and discover key landmarks.
Mad Max will allow players to explore a vast open world filled with things to do and see. Freedom is the name of the game and if they want, players can simply jump in their car and cruise off into the sunset. The wastelands are a violent place and players should expect to encounter a lot of enemies. Combat can be approached in a variety ways from car combat, to shootouts, and Max can take on enemies with his fists using a combat system similar to that seen in the Arkham games.
Mad Max is due to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 1.
