How to Get Fiber in ARK Survival Evolved
It’s one of the most basic needs when it comes to crafting, and one of the first resources you’ll come across in the game. In order to harvest fiber in ARK Survival Evolved, you simply need to interact with bushes, shrubs, and trees around you. That’s right, you need only use your hands!
Here’s a tip; simply walk around with the camera angled slightly down and mash the interact button (E on keyboard, Triangle on PS4, and Y on Xbox One).
Your character should be seen swiping the air, gathering fiber from time to time. This is also how you pick up rocks and possibly berries, among other things.
It’s really the fastest way to do this without using a tool. Later on, you could make a metal sickle and that will make this process even easier for you, as it yields more fiber and at a faster rate.
Using Creatures for Harvesting Fiber
Alternatively, if you’d rather have creatures do the hard work for you, you can always use one of a number of creatures that are good at harvesting fiber to do it on your behalf. Creatures you can use to do this include:
- Dire Bear
- Gigantopithecus
- Moschops
- Therizinosaur
Keep in mind that you won’t be able to unlock the metal sickle or ride a Gigantopithecus until you’re at level 30, so you might need to grind out some levels first.
What Is Fiber Used For?
Fiber is used for a ton of different crafting recipes, including Thatch and Wood construction, tools, weapons and armor, just to name a few.
In other words, you’re best off having a healthy stack of Fiber at all times, as you never know when the need will arise for it.
