How to Find and Use the Music Box in Phasmophobia

A guide that explains where to find the music box is in Phasmophobia and how to use it.

Your ultimate goal in Phasmophobia, other than surviving, is collecting intel on ghosts. There are a series of tools at your disposal for coaxing the ghost to show itself, at least long enough to snap a few pictures or get it to speak using your Spirit Box. Outside of those tools are also Cursed Possessions, such as the Music Box. If you’re having trouble locating the Music Box, here’s how to find and use the Music Box in Phasmophobia.

How to Find and Use the Music Box in Phasmophobia

Finding the Music Box in Phasmophobia will be much more difficult than actually using it. Since it counts as a Cursed Possession, and there are six altogether, that means it has a one in six chance of spawning in the map. If you find, for example, the Tarot Cards, then the Music Box will not appear.

With that said, if you are lucky and the Music Box does appear in the map, here’s what you do:

  1. Pick up the Music Box.

Simply holding the Music Box, without playing the music, will not affect the ghost in any way.

  2. Activate the Music Box with the default Use button.

Be warned: the music attracts the ghost to your location. You’ll know it’s nearby if you hear the ghost humming along to the tune. If the ghost reaches you, while you’re holding the Music Box, it will start a Cursed Hunt.

  3. Alternatively, you can activate the Music Box and put it down using the default Secondary Use button.

Doing this will still attract the ghost, but only to the Music Box. Take this as an opportunity to take pictures. Just keep your distance.
