Halo Infinite Equipment: How to Unlock, All Upgrades & How to Change

Master Chief is heading out into the open-world of Zeta Halo for the first time in Halo Infinite. While he’ll still have the same armory of futuristic and alien weaponry at his disposal, he now has a bunch of equipment he can use to make his way around the world and, of course, finish this fight. In this Halo Infinite Equipment guide, we’ll be explaining how to unlock all of it, explain all upgrades for each equipment type, and how to change equipment in the game.

Unlocking All Equipment

There are 5 pieces of equipment that you’ll be able to unlock and upgrade in Halo Infinite. These are:

  • Grapple Hook
  • Shields
  • Threat Sensor
  • Deployable Cover
  • Thruster

Each of these is unlocked by progressing through the main story missions. The equipment is found on the bodies of dead Spartans, and after discovering what happened to them, Master Chief will equip them to his armor, allowing you to use them in battle.

All Equipment Upgrades in Halo Infinite

Each piece of equipment can be upgraded with Spartan Cores. Every time you upgrade a piece of equipment, the cost of the next upgrade increases by 1 (except for the final upgrade). You can upgrade your equipment by accessing the ‘Equipment’ menu by pressing View and tabbing over to it.

How to Change Equipment in Halo Infinite

To change between your different types of equipment, press right on the d-pad to open the Equipment Selector menu which appears just above your ammo count in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

Now press the direction on the d-pad that corresponds with the piece of equipment you want to use. For example, to select the Grapple Hook, press left when the Equipment Selector menu is open.

It’s worth noting that you don’t have to ‘equip’ your Shields. These are automatically active and whenever you purchase an upgrade for them, it’ll simply allow you to take more damage before dying in combat.

That’s everything you need to know regarding Halo Infinite Equipment. For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our wiki, or see more of our coverage on the campaign below.
