How to Save Your Game in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl

The Pokemon series is definitely starting to pick up steam on the Nintendo Switch console as Game Freak is releasing two more entries on the system this year. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the original Diamond and Pearl games, making this a good time for both longtime fans and newcomers to jump straight back into the Sinnoh Region and see what’s changed. Here’s how to save your game in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

While these games are fairly easy to play, they’re also pretty damn long. So unless you’re planning on speedrunning or playing through everything in one sitting, you’ll likely need to save your game when you need to take a break.

To do this, simply hit the X button in-game to bring up the menu. Then, press the R button to access the save menu. From here, you’ll be able to save your game and record all your progress. After that, you can quit out of the game safely, then boot it up later when you’re ready to resume.

One crucial thing to note, however, is that just like all other games in the series, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl only let you have one save slot. This means that you can’t have multiple save files to go back to later on, and if you ever want to restart the entire adventure, you’ll need to overwrite your old files. With the Switch, you can simply create a new account profile on your console if you want to keep the old file intact, but it’s definitely not an ideal situation.

With that in mind, be careful not to let your kids or little cousins mess around with your game too much as they may accidentally start a new game and overwrite all your previous progress. That said, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl require you to delete the save data from the system menus if you want to start completely over, so hopefully that won’t be a concern.

That’s all you need to know about how to save your game in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
