Another week in October brings yet another AAA release to our consoles and PCs. This time around, it’s Square Enix’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, putting players in control of Star-Lord as you lead your crew of unlikely heroes help fight off an interplanetary meltdown. If you simply can’t wait to hop into the action, you’ll probably be interested in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy preload and unlock times, and the install size of the game. This guide has everything you need to know.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Preload Times
Thanks to PlayStation Game Size on Twitter, we know that PlayStation players will be able to begin preloading Guardians of the Galaxy on Oct. 24, two days ahead of its official release.
At the time of writing, we don’t know when the game will begin preloading on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. PC players will also likely be able to begin preloading Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on Oct. 24 on Steam, as the platform often makes games available for preload 48 hours before their official release date.
When Does the Guardians of the Galaxy Preload Unlock?
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will unlock and be playable on Oct. 26 at midnight in your time zone on consoles. As long as your download is complete, you can load up the game and begin playing on the official release date.
For those who have pre-loaded via Steam or the Epic Games Store, there’s a single global unlock time. This is Oct. 26 at 9am PT/ 12pm ET/ 6pm CEST.
What’s the Install Size for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy?
Update: We now know the install size for the game across all platforms:
- PS4: 60gb
- PS5: 31gb
- Xbox Series X: 42.49gb
- PC: 80gb
Original:
We know for a fact that the PC version of the game requires at least 150 GB of available space on a Hard Drive Disk (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD) storage device, as listed on the Steam Store page.
As noted in the PlayStation Game Size tweet that also revealed the preload date, the PlayStation 5 version of the game will come in around 41.243 GB.
The Xbox versions’ install sizes have yet to be revealed on the game’s Microsoft Store page, however, it’s likely that the Xbox Series X|S version will be similar in size to the PS5’s 41.243 GB due to their similar graphical 4K capabilities. The Xbox One version of the game will likely be slightly smaller.
Once we have this confirmed, we’ll update this post. For more on the game beyond preload times, check out our Guardians of the Galaxy guide wiki.
