How to Open Mechanical Doors

Mechanical doors can’t be pried open with your fists, nor can they be opened with a key or anything like that. Instead, you are going to need to find a Crank that you can use to properly open the doors as intended.

You’ll get a Crank during your escape from the third area of the game. Fortunately for you, this is completely unmissable. You will receive it at some point during the story, so you don’t have to worry too much about missing something and not being able to open certain doors. So if you come across any mechanical doors you can’t open yet, just be patient, and you’ll get what you need to open them eventually.

That said, just because the Crank is unmissable doesn’t mean the doors are. Mechanical doors typically hide areas with rare loot or items, animals you can kill for the Duke’s recipe ingredients, and other helpful items that you will want during your playthrough. Make sure to keep an eye out for them as you play through Resident Evil Village.
