The Mass Effect series is all about love, and is stocked with a number of different romance options for both male and female Shepards. While squadmate choices such as Tali and Garrus get all the love and recognition from the community, there are also some lesser-recognized and non-squad romance options as well. Perhaps the best of those secondary options is Yeoman Chambers; better known as Kelly from Mass Effect 2. In this guide, we’ll go over how to romance Kelly in Mass Effect 2 and carry that love over to Mass Effect 3 if you so choose.
How to Romance Kelly in Mass Effect 2
There are a few conditions that need to be met in order to romance Kelly in Mass Effect 2.
You must first always choose to be kind, and flirt with Kelly any opportunity that you get. After each mission, check in with her and make sure that you encourage her to use her first name instead of Yeoman Chambers, and generally choose the flirty options when they are available.
For example, say that you’ll embrace her when she falls. When she laments about being too flirty, make sure to tell her that you like it and continue to encourage her. Keep working that Shepard charm essentially.
If you do all of this, are not in any current relationships with anyone else, and are able to ensure that she survives the events of the final mission – follow this guide if you’re unsure of how to do that, as we’re trying to keep this guide relatively spoiler-free – then you’ll be golden. After the final mission, Kelly will send an email saying that she’d like to privately visit you in your room. Head up to your room, call Kelly on the intercom, and your romance scene will be locked in.
How to Continue Kelly Romance in Mass Effect 3
Kelly is once again a romance option in Mass Effect 3, provided you did all of the above in Mass Effect 2.
You need to ensure that you meet Kelly on the Citadel in the Refugee camp area. Speak with her, remain kind to her, and encourage her to change her identity. If you do not do this, Kelly will not survive an attack later on in the story on the Citadel (again, trying to avoid spoilers here).
After this attack, you can once again check in with Kelly at the camp and she will ask you if you’re seeing anyone. If you’re not, you can reply as such and a romance scene will eventually play out again with you and Kelly. Kelly will also give you a picture afterward that you can keep in your office.
