When you first start out in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, you’ll be able to grow crops and tend to your livestock to get animal produce. The only problem is, the produce you get from your animals isn’t the highest quality and will only be three stars (out of a possible 10). In this guide, we’ll explain how to increase animal produce quality in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town.
How to Increase Animal Produce Quality
1. Raise Their Heart Level & Happiness
An animal’s friendship and happiness levels will determine the quality of products you get, and whether or not you can get ‘Ultra’ quality products (often called Milk+ or Egg+ etc.).
Focus on increasing an animal’s friendship and happiness levels by letting them graze outdoors, reacting to any speech bubbles above their head by interacting with them, and brushing and petting them regularly.
Once you’ve reached 10 friendship and happiness, you’ll max out that particular animal’s produce quality.
2. Feed Them Deluxe Fodder
The best way to maintain high friendship and happiness levels, and therefore keep your animal’s producing the best quality produce they can, you’ll want to feed them Deluxe Fodder.
You can convert standard Fodder into Deluxe Fodder by placing it into a Silage.
3. Use Livestock Breeding Kit at Animal Shop
When you’ve maxed an animal’s happiness and friendship levels, it’s time to go to the Animal Store in the bottom left-hand corner of Olive Town itself.
Select the ‘Apply Livestock Breeding Kit’ (or Chicken if you’re trying to get better quality eggs), and select the animal you want to breed. You’ll need to have a Big Barn or Big Chicken Coop to do this.
The breeding kit will cost a bit, but after a few days you’ll have a baby animal. Give it a few more in-game days and that’ll turn to an adult, and begin giving you produce (milk, eggs, wool etc.).
New generation animals will produce higher quality produce. A 2nd generation cow, for example, produces 4-star milk, as opposed to the standard 3-star milk.
4. Breed New Generations for Higher Quality Animal Produce
Rinse and repeat step 3 but with your newly-bred animals. Breeding new generations will create a new generation and therefore increase the animal produce quality they’ll give you once again.
