Cyberpunk 2077 Dual Wielding: Can You Dual Wield Weapons? Answered

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Cyberpunk 2077 is the latest open-world game release from CD Projekt Red, best known for their work on the Witcher series. Unlike that franchise, however, this is a first-person sci-fi game that puts players in control of V, a mercenary stuck doing odd jobs in Night City and occasionally getting tangled in corporate espionage. If you’re wondering whether there’s dual wielding available in Cyberpunk 2077, here’s what you need to know.

Is There Dual Wielding in Cyberpunk 2077? Answered

To get straight to the point, no, there is no dual wielding in Cyberpunk 2077. You can carry up to three weapons on V at once, and you can press the triangle or Y button to cycle through them and even go to your fists for melee attacks. However, if you were hoping to have V equip two weapons at the same time and use them simultaneously, you’re out of luck.

Global Community Lead for CD Projekt Red Marcin Momot stated on Twitter back in July that there would not be any dual wielding functionality in the game when the question was posed to him. You can check out the tweet embedded below for yourself.

With the game splitting its focus across so many things such as melee and ranged combat, crafting, hacking, and stealth, there are a lot of different items and equipment that you can experiment with. Some are two-handed weapons, while others are only one-handed. The good news is that even with a ranged weapon equipped, you’ll still be able to use basic melee attacks by hitting R3; you just won’t be able to block attacks like you normally would if you were just using a melee weapon.

That’s all you need to know about whether there is dual wielding in Cyberpunk 2077. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
