Taking place five years after the end of the original game, The Last of Us 2 continues to follow our two main protagonists Joel and Ellie. Players will pick up the story with Ellie and Joel finding themselves in a thriving community in Jackson, Wyoming. Everything isn’t peachy for long, though and you’ll soon be thrown into all the violence and emotional setpieces you’d expect from the sequel. As such, some players may be wondering how to change difficulty in The Last of Us 2 if the combat ever gets too hard or easy, so they can focus on and enjoy the story more.

Changing Difficulty in Last of Us 2

Selecting your difficulty is done at the beginning of The Last of Us 2 when you’re first starting a new game. You’ll have the option to choose from all of the difficulty settings available before the opening cutscene and gameplay begins.

Changing difficulty in The Last of Us 2 is entirely possible even after you’ve started the game, and you can even adjust individual settings to adjust the game to your own comfort levels. Press the Options button and choose Difficulty, then set it from there. You can also adjust the severity of damage taken, stealth mechanics, etc.
