Developed by Monolith Soft, Xenoblade Chronicles is making a glorious comeback to the Nintendo Switch this month with the release of the Definitive Edition. It comes with enhanced graphics and visuals, an arranged soundtrack, and additional story content. In addition to that, it also features a series of small improvements and other tweaks. Here’s how to change to Expert Mode in Xenoblade Chronicles.
Changing to Expert Mode in Xenoblade Chronicles
It’s definitely recommended that you play through the game on its default difficulty setting when you get started, but it is possible to increase or lower the difficulty if you’d like. For instance, you can play on Casual Mode, which makes battles much easier and less grindy.
If you’re looking for a challenge, you can also up it a little by playing on Expert Mode. This setting can be accessed anytime by pressing X to bring up the menu, then choosing the Expert Mode option and pressing R3 to toggle it on or off.
When toggled on, you’ll only receive experience points from battles but you won’t get anything from discovering landmarks and new locations. As you’re exploring the open world of Xenoblade Chronicles, you’ll discover tons of landmarks, and the experience will rack up very quickly. It can allow you to get over-leveled if you’re keen on exploring, so toggling on Expert Mode will help to curb that.
From the Expert Mode menu, you can also select characters and use the d-pad to lower or increase their levels according to how much experience they’ve accrued so far. With this in mind, you can intentionally keep them under-leveled to preserve the challenge.
If it ever gets too tough, you can always toggle it off again.
That’s all you need to know about how to change to Expert Mode in Xenoblade Chronicles. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
