Final Fantasy 7 Remake: How to Respec

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

The ability to respec is one that’s fairly commonplace in RPGs. Respeccing allows you to reset any skill points or upgrades you’ve given your character or weapons so you can further buff Cloud and the rest of your party. Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s respec system allows players to reset their weapon upgrades, but you’ll need to do some work to unlock it first.

The good news is that yes, you are able to respec and reset your weapon upgrades. These nodes that you’ve likely attached to the Buster Sword and other weapons can be used to increase attack, defense, critical rate, or your max HP, MP and so on.

To respec weapons in Final Fantasy 7 Remake, players will need to seek out Chadley. This is a new NPC who specializes in materia and your combat needs.

Respeccing does cost Gil, however, so keep in mind that you’ll need to cough up the cash if you’re wanting to have a clean slate for upgrading your weapons.

Two places you’ll be able to find Chadley are the Sector 5 and Sector 7 slums. These aren’t the only two places you’ll find Chadley, however, and we’ve included an image of what he looks like below to help you spot him on your adventure.
