Continuing Takuto Maruki’s Councillor Confidant in Persona 5 Royal
Takuto Maruki is one of two new characters introduced in Persona 5 Royal, and he represents the Councillor arcana. He’ll become available to you fairly early on in the game, after you’ve cleared Kamoshida’s Palace. From then on, you can spend time with him by talking to him at the Practice Building corridor.
However, once you reach rank 5 with him before a certain point in the story, Maruki will stop spending time with you. Each time you try to talk to him, he’ll simply say that he’s busy with his research, and you won’t be able to increase his Confidant rank any further.
Not to fear, though, as progressing his Confidant rank isn’t complicated at all. You simply need to progress through the story until you’ve cleared the fourth dungeon in the game, the Pyramid of Wrath. Once you’ve done so, you’ll be able to resume the Councillor Confidant after the next story event.
In our case, the next time we had a free day after school, Maruki sent us a text indicating that he wanted to meet up with the main character, and this allowed us to continue the Councillor storyline. If you haven’t reached rank 5 with him by this point, you should still be able to proceed as normal without running into the story gate.
