This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

About halfway through your adventure, Kwolok will tell Ori that he has to venture down into Mouldwood Depths. Shrouded in darkness and with plenty of obstacles to bypass on the way, Ori’s trip down here will finish with him facing off against a giant spider called Mora. Here’s how to beat the spider boss fight in Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

First things first, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve got a few Shards equipped and abilities, too. We used the following Shard loadout to beat Mora fairly easily:

Abilities to Use Against Mora the Spider

  • Spirit Edge
  • Regenerate
  • Flash

Spirit Shards to Use in Spider Boss Fight

  • Sticky
  • Resilience
  • Vitality
  • Energy

Mora Boss Fight Phase 1

Let’s get something clear right off the bat. In both phase one and phase two of this fight, you’re going to want to focus on using your grapple and sling abilities to stay off the ground and constantly be on the move. This will enable you to avoid Mora’s fire and stomp attacks that’ll see you take damage if you touch the ground.

Use the walls and constantly keep your energy topped up. This is because from the second the boss fight begins, you want to turn on Flash. Flash may prevent you from dying in darkness, but it also persistently deals damage to any enemy in its radius.

Next, climb up a wall and use Sticky to keep you there. Jump up as the spider attacks you, and get a ton of swipes in before returning back to the wall. You can cheese the fight pretty easily this for the first phase.

Mora Boss Fight Phase 2

With a chunk of the spider boss’ health drained, Mora will knock through into a larger area and the battle will move here. Mora will call in smaller spider enemies now, too.

Take care of these quickly whenever they spawn and then go back to using the walls to jump up and attack Mora in the head. When you’re running low on health, dash and use the blue hanging hooks to quickly get to the other side of the arena and quickly use Regenerate. The small spiders also drop health, so keep an eye out for the green glowing orbs.

Mora Boss Fight Phase 3

Once you’ve depleted half of Mora’s health, you’ll hit her third and final phase. Before that, you’ll be chased by Mora into another new arena. You’ll need to navigate the various obstacles without falling or being caught by Mora to survive.

When you make it outside, it’s largely more of the same from phase 2. You’ll be using the orange hanging hooks to propel yourself, rather than slinging around with the blue hooks. Keep yourself off the ground as much as possible during this phase, as Mora loves to use the ground pound and scorch attacks, as well as call a ton of smaller spiders once again.

Use the orange hooks to propel yourself towards Mora’s face, and the energy shard on the ground to keep yourself topped up on health. Run to either end to heal your health and keep rinse-repeating this process until the big bad spider finally falls.

That’s everything you need to know on how to beat the spider boss fight in Ori and the Will of the Wisps. For more on the game, check out our posts below or search for Twinfinite on Google.
